Cameo is one of my favorite bands of all time. I own their entire discography, including rare alternate and extended mixes of tracks. "Word Up" is a classic, but they have loads more songs that I prefer. There's a 2 disc compilation of their hits called "Gold" that's a good place to start if you wanna check out their stuff. They started out as a full funk band with 8+ members, but by the late 80's had reduced to a three piece - Larry Blackmon (leader, founder), Charlie Singleton (who also released some GREAT solo albums in the 80's including my favorite, "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained"), and Tomi Jenkins. That's the lineup that did "Word Up" and their other better known songs like "Candy" (which 2Pac sampled for All About U).
They have a song called "Pretty Girls" that is somewhat a sequel to "Word Up", I actually prefer it. From their 1989 "Machismo" album.
