According to wikipedia the CD came on the market in 1982. Is it correct to say that every album released before this was on vinyl? It's so I can adjust my music collection ehehehe.

Cassette tape.

"As the transistor radio defined small music in the 1960s, the portable CD player in the 1990s, and the MP3 player in the 2000s, so did the Walkman define very small portable music in the 1980s, with cassette sales overtaking those of LPs. Total vinyl record sales remained higher well into the 1980s due to greater sales of singles, although cassette singles achieved popularity for a period in the 1990s."

Ah of course, I forgot about cassettes. So there weren't any CDs out until the late 1980s. Thankies.

I remember going into a store in probably 2002 and thinking "no cassette version?" when looking at some albums. i think the last time i saw a cassette on sale was 2003.

Chronic is a metadata junkie.

I'd like to know where the rips came from. If I had a vinyl rip, I'd never want to replace the same track(s) with a CD rip because that's what anal people do.

If available I try to get the original vinyl rip, unless there's a properly remastered version available. I imagine most of my shit is a CD rip though.

In what way would this info make you adjust your collection?
Add 2 folders 'Side A' and 'Side B' and alter the track numbers. For example instead of having tracks 1-10 it would be tracks 1-5 (2x). I only do this when it's only available on vinyl/cassette or for singles. If I have covers of the actual vinyl sides it makes it look delicious as well.

*NOTICE* Mr. FBI man, this picture was sent to me by your mother, it is not a picture of my actual harddrive. kk?

And I thought my method of arranging albums by the region they were released from was a bit too much lol.
and i thought my method of arranging my mp3s by genre and subgenres was a bit too much. i realize a lot of people are crazier than me now.

You don't even know the half of it :D

Yeah but I'll kill myself then so it wouldn't be a problem :)

I'm now going to edit some posts where I divulged too much information.

i also like to add concept names. thug life volume 1 doesn't have "side a" and "side b" on the tray, it says "east" and "west". in my collection i would put "Side A - East" and "Side B - West". crucial for a near-real experience. also, a txt with the full tracklist, artist and/or album trivia contained in the same folder is the icing.

and i realize it was a joke but that's a pretty shitty disclaimer dude :p
