ok, im putting this out here, and i expect to get some responses which will bag me out and poke fun at me. but here is my story:

i have always had a "widows peak", and i got a pretty mature hairline early. if you dunno what that is, look it up. a little over a month ago i made a thread here which had pictures of myself done through my webcam. i think rukas made some comment about the bookcase behind me. now back then everything was cool. my hair was top notch, i could style it anyway i wanted. a week after i took those photos i got a hair cut. i thought everything seemed fine. a week after that i noticed i couldnt style my hair the same way anymore. it seemed like my hair receded a little bit. and the way i did it made it obvious.

now this freaked me the fuck out because 2 weeks prior my hair was fine. is it even possible for this shit to happen within 2 weeks? like i thought it was a gradual process.. but this literally hit me overnight. i thoguht it was maybe because the guy who cut my hair fucked it up somehow. so i rode it out, grew it for 5 weeks, but it was still obvious that the hair looked like it was receding. dont get me wrong. i dont have a horseshoe... it's not a big thing but it's noticeable if you look @ it close enough. i notice it more because it's MY hair.

anyway.. it just seems bizarre as fuck that its happened within 2 weeks. honestly its a head fuck. like if it was a more gradual thing, which i thought it would be, i thought i could try tackle it by taking some shit - or just atelast prepare myself mentally for it. plus i assumed i would start this in my late 20s. im only 19 which scares me. but like, because it's literally happened within 2 weeks, it's completely caught me off guard. consequently i have no idea how to deal with it.

im thinking perhaps its something else, but i dont want to live off false hope and dwell in denial. i am going to see a doctor about it, to get some peace of mind. but honestly, isnt it bizarre that the structure of my hair changed so much within 2 weeks that i can no longer do my hair the same way? it doesnt make sense.

edit: jude law has balded hectically. dudes got a complete horseshoe head now

Is your dad balding? Is it genetic? It could be a few other things. Thyroid problems. Usually your hair will get thinner before it starts to fall out...so since it happened so fast it makes me think it's something else.

If it is...there is medicine to prevent it for younger ppl. Rogaine too. I know someone that had hair transplant surgery. It looked weird for a while but...it looks good now . There are a few options. You don't HAVE to be bald. Bald is hot too tho. :)

Stress can cause hair loss. You stressed? well I guess your hair is stressing you, which is probably making it worse.

Its just hair anyway, just shave it off. Have a bald head and say its your style.

I was with this chick once that wanted to shave my ass cheeks, but that's another story. Its not like they are over hairy .. anyway.

my dad is alright for his age. hes 55, he HAS lost hair obviously, but he's good. i asked him about it...he actually told me his hair receded quite a bit in his early 20s.. and after that his hair took ages to thin out.

but then again, i told him that this all seemed to happen within 2 weeks, and he told me that if it happened that fast it could be something else.

nevertheless it still worries me. the bald look wouldnt suit me. anyway im no where near that stage yet lol

hair loss comes from your mothers side, not sure why, just know that it has been proven but i am too lazy to look up articles to give ya facts...

i do know it can skip generations, or even inside individual families. my family inparticular, my mom was an only child so there are no uncles to compare with, but my grandfather was a bald man, not sure when he started losing hair, but he was bald. i have an older brother that is 44, he is balding but he keeps that bozo the clown look where it's kinda bald in the center but has hair around the sides above his ears, i have another brother that is 43, full head of hair, no sign of him losing it. i myself was going thin by the time i was 18, when i was 23 i was workin security at a retailer, after an apprehension i was watching the tape so i could get my time stamps down, while watching i noticed how thin i was on top, that night i went and had my hair cut as short as clippers would go, a few months later i shaved it all the way and have been doing so for the last 11 years...

all i can say is embrace the baldness, shave it off and unless you have an odd shaped nugget you'll be fine, most girl like the shaved head look now-a-days anyhow

That makes no sense at all even without looking it up.

What causes male pattern baldness?

Male pattern baldness is a difficult issue to accept for many men. The loss of hair can be due to several reasons -- genetics, disease, and stress -- and usually occurs in men ages 25 to 40. This type of hair loss usually follows a similar pattern of receding along the hairline and also thining hair on the crown of the head. Hair typically continues to get finer and shorter over time.

There are various causes:

Genetics – Male pattern baldness is almost always caused by genetics. It is the effect of hormones on the hair follicles. The genetics can be passed on from one or both of your parents.

Disease – Hair loss can be caused by disease, but this is rarely the case. If you think a medication that you are taking is causing hair loss, then contact your doctor.

Stress – Many men will testify that stress causes hair loss. This is debatable, but it is healthy to decrease stress levels. You may see a difference in your overall heath.

Ok im trying to figure this out without looking it up but using logic:

When i look at older people, do old men have a problem with their hair or do old women have this problem? How can it affect mostly men if women are the cause for the loss of hair?

Using logic, the woman passes on something that affects men in a different way, namely hair loss and lethal flatulence.

i wasn't sayin your moms bald so your bald, i have always heard it comes from your mom side of the family, like her dad or uncles or brothers, passed down geneticly through her to you...don't know if it's true or not, i have been looking and don't see it anywhere, i just seem to remember that from health class at some point

Being bald sucks, unless its by choice, like Darkie.

I lost most of my hair in my early 30s maybe very late 20s. I have nuthing up top, just the shit around the back of the head plus the sideburns, back in the day when I used to care, I would shave everything off n rock du-rags, but now its like who cares, life goes on.
