What's everyone do for work?

I know some people have touched on it in a couple of threads, but I was wondering, what is everyone doing for a living, and is it what you thought you would be doing?

Me? I'm a media strategist for a print and digital publisher -- previously at another digital publisher and a TV and digital publisher before that.

Not really what I thought I'd ever be doing, because truth be told I never even know that this job existed and when I started I had no idea what a strategist did (some days I still don't!). In short, it is a blend of media planning and marketing to our audiences, I work with clients, agencies or brands to advertise to our particular audience in... errmm... strategic.. ways.

That’s a lot of responsibility.

Do you enjoy it? What’s your five year plan?

I just got a new job doing tech support for a company that makes lasers, and laser engraving machines. I'm pretty excited about it. They cater breakfast everyday so that's cool

It sure is, I have worked with one customer for nearly 16 years so I know them better than some of their own staff

Not sure yet what my 5 year plan is

I am doing OK, have a company car laptop etc but more money would be good

How do you even show you're qualified for something like that. Just show how many followers you have on social media or something lol. Social media built an entire industry and it seems so odd. I'm always thinking to myself people actually get paid for that. Advertising is big business I guess
