To those not in the US...

Only shallow people go on vacation solely based upon climate.
Fuck. What I was trying to say was "biome" not "climate." I guess I couldn't think of a better word. The US has a lot of different biomes, so those that want to stay within the country and not deal with the hassle of flying or flying overseas, 800 miles can be the difference between the beach, a desert or a mountain, in the West cost. Eh, maybe 1000. A two day car drive, enjoy the scenery on the way.

Plus, not everyone has the money for a passport or may not be allowed to leave the country. A lot of different factors. But the US is definitely blessed to have such a diverse set of biomes, relatively close by.

what the fuck is a quid.

and stop free posting.

It's a pound, sheila.

Anyways... You can't fly budget to the US. So mute point.

I flew to the US over 20 years ago for a 3 week holiday. So economics... Mute point.

I would never fly Ryan Air anywhere. Shit airline. I am a little scared of flying, and want to get there in 1 piece. I always try and fly British Airways. Or if I am flying internal across US, I fly United or AA.

People need to leave their country and experience other cultures. You'd be suprised about your misconceptions. This year I spent a few weeks travelling across Vietnam. Which again, is a 13 hour flight. And doesn't have a budget airline.

Wow, u people. Seriously.

Only shallow people go on vacation solely based upon climate.
Thx casey. Some people don't understand why you could travel for ... like learnin new stuff...for example?

I live in Manitoba and you realise that you could fit the majority of europe into my one province
Your province is big I agree but your definition of majority is funny.
Manitoba Listeni /ˌmænɪˈtoʊbə/ is a Canadian prairie province with an area of 649,950 square kilometres (250,900 sq mi)
Europe is the world's second-smallest continent by surface area, covering about 10,180,000 square kilometres (3,930,000 sq mi)
I'm not going to drive there cos it's like 1500 km away lol
You can make 1500km in one and a half day. Did it before, will do it again.

there are various different biomes I agree. But if u want to see africas wildlife you's have to deal with flying I suppose.

Americans are just as big cultural tourists (choosing to use it in a negative connotation here) as Europeans
I don't agree. And just because some students go abroad doesn't mean shit. I feel like there's a difference. Big difference. But that's my opinion. and don't get me wrong people, we generalize here that means we take about the average, of course I met cool US people that were open minded and all. But that's only a few compared to the mass.

You can't assume everyone is in the same financial position as you.

No you can't and of course money is THE factor sofi. But hell, I rather spend my money on experiences than ... bling bling or an expensive car. That's the decision I can make.

Plus, I met lots of US students that made it over here (so the money is/was there) and still I feel there is a big difference. I blame the media. serisouly. Fox News is the biggest crime every commited to the US people.

I agree. And I understand that. But the minimum wage in the US, not to mention the cheap lifestyle (housing, cars, fuel)... I imagined, but could be wrong, it would be within the working American's budget.

I ate many wonderful dishes. Although towards the end of the trip I started eating Western Dishes... I had the shits, and it felt better... lol

Did you visit Phu Quoc Island?

This. It's not rocket science to figure out that exposure to sunlight is linked to happiness levels. I actually get seasonal depression quite badly. I feel unmotivated when it's miserable outside. Yet another reason for me moving, weather here sucks.
i know that. its evident that some people can cope with it better than others. for example. i prefer hot weather, sun in my face or nice winter weather with snow. i just hate dullness. seasonal affective disorder is something i might implement in my project this year.

i try not to let it bother me even though i long and hope for something better.

It's also more common for us to live on our own and not with our parents. I know in a lot of other cultures (most Asian, Hispanic, some European-don't know about all?) it's common for them to stay with parents until they marry.

I can tell you that most Mediterranean and Eastern Europeans stay with their parents until marriage, or at least until they finish their education and get a job. There are exceptions, but for the most part - that's how we do.

Honestly, you guys have no grasp of England at all. We have pretty much nothing in common with Europe. We are in a geographical location called Europe that is it. We are almost the same as America, except we have a history and more culture. I'd say we have more in common with Australia and America than any European country.

We move out as soon as is financially possible. And I'd imagine our ratio of single parent families is also pretty high (Governments fault). In England, and this is a negative point, we are not very family orientated. The opposite of Italy or Spain.

The family-living is mostly contained to Eastern and Mediterranean cultures. Western Europe is not like that.

@ Pittsey: Well, I'd say the UK and the West of Europe have a lot in common regarding lifestyles, culture etc.

I don't agree. Maybe in Holland. But not in Spain, Portugal, France.... etc.

I haven't been to Holland, so can't comment. But all the above countries are very old school. They have high family values, wear horrible clothes, and seem very much like country folk.

Germany isn't really like the UK, but I see more similarities than any of the above countries. Don't get me wrong though, I love Spain. And if I was going to move anywhere, it'd be there. Good weather. Cheap cost of living and a 2 hour flight back to London.

I found this also ... lol.... - What do you Americans Like/Dislike about England/the English? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

Edit - I'd just like to add. I think the UK has the best Police force in the world.
