Insurance Companys Are Stupid As Fuck.

It's gonna sound like I am bitching.. I AM.

Ok, so I got into a minor accident like 3 weeks ago on the highway. I was traveling south coming towards the area where I live (was with a friend). So i'm in the far right lane on the highway ready to take this exit. I travel this way all the time. Numerous times a day. So I take the exit as I normally do. It's sort of a turn that's like a loop around. It's a single lane. So i'm about halfway through this loop and boom.. I get hit on my right side. I'm like WTF? How could somebody hit me at this point where I was. It's a single lane. So my assumption was he was trying to speed past me. But again... in a single lane? I wasn't driving too slow. Why would he try and do that? Who the fuck knows.

So i've basically had to deal with the insurance company bullshit since then. It's been 3 weeks and i've gotten nothing accomplished with them. My insurance company estimated the damage at about $1400 and the other guys estimated it at about $1600. My company gave me a $900 check. So basically if I wanted to get it fixed with them, i'd have to throw in that other $500.. which is my deductible. But I told them I wasn't using the check because I wasn't at fault and I want his insurance company to pay for it.

So i've talked with some random guy on his end with his insurance company and i've told my story numerous times. I never changed anything in my story.. EVER. The other dude changed his story like 2-3 times. He even went as far as saying he was never behind me. Which is literally impossible. You hit me on a one lane highway exit and you were never behind me? Not to mention he lied about the way he was traveling. Which would have meant the damage would have been on the opposite sides of our cars.

I had a feeling I was gonna get fucked and sure enough.. he's not found liable. I'm wondering how that's possible. It's so obvious what happened. I thought I had the guy from the other insurance company convinced. He tried to pass me on the right in a one lane exit. Him changing his story 2-3 times doesn't mean anything either? Now I get this letter saying I "failed to maintain my lane of traffic and struck their insured"? Talk about a fucking joke. Shit makes absolutely no sense.

Now they (our insurance companys) are doing the whole arbitration thing. And it's gonna take months. I'm not spending my own money to get this shit fixed. I don't care if I get it back in 2 or 3 months. If I thought I was the least bit liable for this thing, I wouldn't feel bad paying. Then i'd be like "I fucked up.. i'm willing to pay". But i'm not.

Thats why I dont even deal w/ em anymore, never fucking get anywhere but worse off..Im basically jus paying 2 make sure cops dont have another reason 2 arrest me.
...[this is going 2 sound weird and pretty ignorant actually lol bt lessons have finally been learned] Ive been lucky enough 2 be in 2 accidents from drinkin & driving then falling asleep.
First I slammed in2 the back of a pickup truck on the freeway in the middle of morning rush hour. Woke up just before impact so was able 2 slow down a good bit, but killed my hood/front of my car [and found out later after it started gushing out fluids, my transmission cooler]. Radiator was fine, tires were fine, car was still driveable...cool. His truck - no damage, mebbe a little scuff on the bumper - plus it was a work truck - so he asked if I was OK, I asked if he was OK, and we went our separate ways. Took my friends home, went back home [way other side of fucking town] went 2 sleep. Checked the car further, saw no engine or other damage that wld affect performance and no frame damage - so I bought all new parts from the factory [not the cheapest spot I know] and replaced it all...was eventually gunna get it painted but never got the money saved up and then Part 2 happened.

Long story short..friends who dont care about their life damn sure dont give a fuck about urs. Not great w/ milage and I really dont remember any of this...it had 2 be pieced back 2gether and a lot is still missing 2 this day [this was 2yrs ago] but prolly drove about 20-30miles either asleep or prolly jus completely blacked out after chuggin a lotta whiskey out the bottle [and past the courthouse/major city police station] until I finally swerved into a semi truck. Luckily hit him right in the tire pretty much parallel so it just popped my tire and fucked up the whole side of my car. Doors still open [stubbornly], but its got some nice tire marks all over it and scratches/dents and the mirrors gone. Obviously, did nothing 2 his truck plus the dude was pretty slow...not sure he shld be drivin a fuckin truck but whatever. Made sure he was alright, then he asked if I wanted him 2 call some1 I said yes w/o hesitation. Then after thinking mebbe he meant the police I decided 2 wander off in2 the night sky. Decided Id walk 2 my parents house since I wasnt TOO far from there....then I sobered up quick when I realized I was actually like 30miles away lol

Sorry I went off on my story but ya basically fuck insurance companies...fuckin scam in every aspect of their "business." Fix it urself ESPECIALLY if its jus body damage. Or if U cant/dont wanna do it, garuntee its easy 2 find somebody decently cheap and reliable. Look around on the net/papers 4 places near U that do work like that. When some asshole hit me in My Jeep a long time ago I got all the parts replaced thru aftermarket shop [plastic parts but just as damn good] cost me prolly $300 max parts/labor, when it woulda cost me at least over a G just for the parts thru a dealer/shop.

I'm wondering if I should get a lawyer. My insurance company is doing the arbitration thing like I said. They said I don't need a lawyer. They basically meet up with the other insurance company and a 3rd party and go from there. I'm wondering if I should get one anyway. I'm not really sure what to do honestly. I don't wanna get a lawyer and then I don't end up winning the case and I have to pay em. I was told you don't pay a lawyer unless they win for you. But I don't know, lol.

They do arbitration because it's cheaper and faster to settle disputes. The good thing is that the arbitrator might not be a moron and actually see who is at fault. The bad thing is, he might not, and then you're fucked. Also, make sure you're not paying for arbitration costs. Call up your agent and ask.

Also, most/all lawyers do free consultations. Google one, or better yet get a recommendation from someone you know, call up the dude, perhaps explain the situation over the phone or meet up in person.

That's what I'd do.

That sucks.

Last month this guy in front of me breaks suddenly. I end up hitting him in the back. But I was driving really slow, there were NO damages on his car, a few scratches on mine. We get out of the cars, he looks at me and he starts saying he already did a claim a week ago, he doesn't want his insurance to go higher. I look at him and I'm like ''I don't know if you were expected money from me but I'm insured so if anything it goes through the insurance companies, I pay for insurance I sure as hell don't need to give you cash''.

And then he said it was all okay and he left... Fucking people.

it's just the fact that he tried to get $ out of me. as if it was my fault that he was in an accident a week before. i pay for an insurance company so that it covers me whether i'm at fault or not.
