You should just force them. Appeal to their culinary sense, or else make a wager out of it. Tell them they're pussies or something. And if they do come, make sure the chef makes their dishes not particularly spicey. Our white throats don't handle it that well.
I do like Indian food though, everytime ive had it, which isnt nearly often enough, i really enjoyed it. In the Nethies we have a lot of Indonesian style cooking and almost every "Chinese" restaurant here is Indo-Chinese cuisine. Things like nasi goreng, bami goreng, babi pajang, saté, is that on the average chinese menu there in the states? We got it cos of the colonial past in Indonesia and when those people came here they brought it with them.
The spicy Indo dishes arent that different from Indian food in principle. Indo food relies on spicy as well. I can handle spicy a lot better than most other (white) folks but when spiced up to proper Indian/Indo levels the flames come outta my ears as well.
