WTF? Can this really happen?

So, i'm in the process of trying to transfer my credits over from DePaul to Northwestern. I only need two more classes as this point. I have seriously busted my ass to get scholarships and pay out of pockets for classes.

Turns out that one quarter that I took classes at DePaul my scholarship ran out halfway through the year but I wasn't informed. The financial aid advisor took it upon herself to apply me for a student government loan, I had no idea.

Okay, so I've not known about this all this time. Direct Loans might have tried to contact me but they wouldn't have my current address as i've not lived in Lincoln Park in quite sometime. I go to register for classes at Northwestern and they've yet to receive my official transcripts with my credits for evaluation. I call DePaul and Northwestern Business college and they say they can't release my credits due to this loan being about to go into default.

It's take 45 days to process the default and then 9 months of payments before they can take it off default status. Which means I can't transfer any credits over, or pretty much go to school unless I start all over from scratch.

Seriously, can they do that? WTF?

Here's the thing Synth that I don't get. To get loans YOU personally need to sign paperwork to authorize the loan. From what I read, you did not know nor signed anything. See if she forged you're signature and ask to see the proper paperwork for that loan. No-one can authorize a loan on your behalf without proper signatures.

Also make sure you have a change of address with the post office so any mail that is sent to the old mailing address will reach you're new address. Direct Loans needs to send you the information via mailing address and or give you a call.

Anyways like they said, you are supposed to sign it. So they can't. If I was you, I'd oblige DePaul to let you go and go around that 9 month period so you can get your credits transfered, because it's their fault and they never asked you permission.

I think that they took it for granted that you will stay at DePaul. Why are you chaning anyways...

I'm changing because I don't received financial aid from the gov't and Northwestern is offering me a huge scholarship to go there.

I called DePaul and according to them there's nothing to be signed as it's all done on computers now. They said she would've had to have a verbal agreement from me stating that I was interested in student loans. How do I prove that there's no verbal agreement is now the question, I guess...

Well tell him that there was no verbal agreement and that you want out... If they don't want, tell them that they are a bunch of egocentric bastards.

But yeah, if you have enough money to stay at DePaul,stay, finish your two calsses, then switch to Northwestern with that scolarship and do some classes there.
