Will is essentially separating himself from the current mainstream Hip hop trend of violence, mysogyny and materialism. By doing so, he is inadvertantly equivocating Tupac with this type of mentality, as he proves in his lack of understanding of why Tupac's name is whispered on street corners across the world. Will is not alone in his mis-interpretation. Many people still mis-perceive Tupac and what he ultimately wanted to represent and achieve.
In other words, Will should realistically have some understanding of what Tupac's message is, but he dont.
