why is the makaveli album original 1996 version poor sound qulity, I have the original 1996 uk version of this album with the sticker on the front saying 2pac's last words the number 1 us album and i also have the 1996 usa version aswell and i find the sound qulity on the album is very poor and dull and the worst sound qulity song on the album is blasphamy as its terrible, I also have uk singels version of toss it up, to live and die in la, and hail mary and they all sond much better than the tracks on the album? luckly the remastered 7dt album is a bit better and i hope the new rereleases coming out in november are better sound qulity

Ive always wondered this myself......The remastered version does indeed sound alot better, and sharper. Maybe Pac recorded it that way on purpose, to give the album a grimier sound?? Who knows.

I notice very little difference in the 1996 version of AEOM and the remaster......I think that album was recorded very well to begin with and probably there wasnt really a need to remaster it. Same thing with Doggystyle pretty much.

The Chronic and Makaveli both sound much better remastered though.

wasnt makaveli originally going to be like a mixtape?

although i guess that wouldnt really affect its sound quality once its being NOT sold as a mixtape

Basically, it was supposed to have no promotion and whatnot.

Yeah, the Makaveli remaster sounds pretty well, but i don't like the transition between To Live And Die In LA and Blasphemy, sounds rushed or something like that. I have the first release of the remaster. I don't know if Koch fix this flaw on their release.

Album was made in 3 days .. after pickin the beats and all it was finished in 7 days

It was supposed 2 be in mom n pop stores.

The transaction between live and die in la and Blas. is supposed 2 be like that... The whole album has the tracks running into each other..

yeah, but I want a version of the album that isn't sequenced like that (I guess that's why we buy singles)

2Pac wanted to prove that he could still make grimey albums, I can't remember where I heard that from. I think QD3 said it in the Makaveli interview in XXL.

Whether the album was recorded in 3 days or three years it wouldn’t affect the quality of the recording. The equipment was the same; the way Pac recorded was still the same (one take) so little difference there. What everyone characterizes as “poor quality” is really more than just a mixing style on the part of Lance Pierre, it is probably infact poor mixing due to the fact he is a lousy mixing engineer. In studio production this type of shit happeneds all the time, studio engineers who are good at what they do think they can produce, and producers who are good at what they do think they can mix, and etc etc you get the idea. But in reality they are very different skill sets. A recording engineer who works with a band or artist for 2 years making an album working 5 days a week will make a small fraction of what a established mixing engineer who comes in (at the end) mixing a track a day for maybe two weeks will receive (money up front plus points on the record.. That’s serious shit). That shows you the real value of the respective disciplines. This guy, Lance Pierre, was probably some death row recording engineer or studio hand who was given the chance to step up and show what he could do by mixing the record.. and he failed. The sad thing about any remastering, is that because it’s done after the fact, the original piece is viewed as the intended sound and body so any post enhancing or remastering is suppose to compliment the original sound, but not deviate from it or change it in any way. Its really something the remastered version of makaveli came out that good at all, considering the original mixes were so crappy.

Your not really missing out on much bro lol...I still have the original sticker intact from when i bought the album over 5 years ago, it's literally just a small black round sticker with the words "the last word from 2 PAC The No 1 US Album"

Anyway i cant say i ever really noticed any poor sound quality on my Makaveli album although i dont really have an ear for things like that.

like with every great audio professional (actually just about anybody in any field of work), many mistakes/underachievements are ommited from such resumes dante...

If Makaveli was intended to be an underground album why on earth was "Toss It Up" on there? That sounds like a blatant commercial single to me. Only song i skip on the album.
Maybe it sounded better with the original Dre beat, i dont know
