the humility of Tupac's work ethics

#1
anyone ever realize how humble Pac was toward his work ethics? he never openly said and bragged about how much work he really did over the years... we now know he was in the studio almost ALL the time, and he didn't stay in one place for a long time. he always had somewhere to go or some people to see. some clips I can think of where Pac talks about working non-stop:

* we have that home video clip of him in the studio where he is tellin the Outlawz and a few others that they don't "have the time or the luxury" to make one track every 2 weeks, and that others can do all the technical shit "after the rappers leave." this whole clip he's speaking from experience and with total confidence, because it's what he already does himself.

* in those recent XXL articles, all the producers commented on how dedicated Pac was, and how many nights that turned into mornings that never ended, all studio time, week after week. the articles also commented on how harsh Pac was to the studio engineers, calling them "Goat Heads," a word he coined himself. he had faith in everyone though, for example, he even went up to the "wack room" producers that nobody liked working with in Death Row. he gave them a chance, and they worked hard, so they ended up producing almost all of the Makaveli album.

* he made All Eyez on Me in 2 weeks and Makaveli in 7 days. I'm guessing these albums continue to generate millions of $'s annual revenue for Death Row. no idea how long it took him to make 2pacalypse, Strictly, Thug Life vol1, or M.A.T.W.

* if you think about it how long it took him to actually write the songs that appeared on RU Still Down, Until the End of Time, Better Dayz (ALL classic double cds in my opinion (debate for this in other threads)), then I would guess that it took him less than 2 weeks each to make these 3 albums. from what I heard, Pac wrote songs in record time.

* Pac acted in a very impressive string of movies for a young black aspiring musician/actor of his time.

* in the song 'Fright Night' (d/l here: http://tinyurl.com/68dow ), Pac says "... hittin weed like it's all right, up in the studio, makin music all night ..."

* we have footage of Pac criticizing Dre for the Cali Love video shoot, saying that he was up there for like 3 days (as I remember). he looked at this as an eternity of time and thought he wasted too much time on the set, but on the reality of it, new rap video artists are spending weeks or even months per video at a time.

other than these examples and some others, I don't think Pac really was that open and never bragged about how much work he did in his life. this is a strong virtue in a man, and is rarely seen in hip hop now adays. if you guys can think of other examples where we see Pac mention how hard he actually works (# songs/day at a certain time?) I'm all earz. this is what I just thought of on the top of my head.

"u know the westside is the best side"
"im the realest"
"i schooled biggie, he learnt everything from me"

also pac mentioning how much he worked all the time is bragging, your contridictin yourself.

^pac has room to sound that way... it actually fits his character.. pac was the best rapper... u see bitches like 50 cent acting the same way, its them who should be called big headed

in your opinion hes the best rapper, why should pac be excuded and 50cent be called big headed when they do the exact samething, why is 50cent a bitch when in his lifetime he did more dirt than pac, put down the hateraid and pick up the cock nuthugger.

this is a very good post..don't ruin it...actually be mature in this..I have to agree with you mike, Pac was the hardest and the quickest person to work in hip-hop I don't know of any artist in any genre of music that could turn out 5 or 6 songs a night, Thats just unheard of. Pac wanted everything done quickly, I heard that pac recorded MATW in less than 2 weeks (remember from another forum, don't know if its true). I don't think we will see any of todays, or future artist work like he did. Very good work ethic.

interesting thread. i also find one thing unique about him in that he very rarely said "im the greatest of all time" or crap about being the best rapper ever like alot of artists do.
pac didnt really go around saying how hard he worked, though obviously he would say so if asked the question

I think hes the best rappper cuz shyt everytime he raps he "says" something. SOme rappers rap and do not say anything. He can make hit em up then make never call u bitch again , then talk about how young kids should be laywers accts. not drug dealers.

Making an album in 2 weeks and it havin a message n most songs .. he was blessed i think cuz he didnt have 2 much time. He died in 96 and in 2005 we r gettin new albums and more coming soon.

Ppl say if he was still alive he wouldnt be such a legend .....he would b a selll out ... he said im not a sell out im not going 4 that.

Died with no money cuz he givin it 2 his community n to ppl who need it.

Man if u say hes not one of the best rappers , hes 4 sure 1 of the best people ever in the rap game

* "I'm the realest." it would be helpful if you used the context or the footage we have of Pac saying this. this is a general statement that Pac said many times, has nothing to do with his work ethic, and is a poor example.

"death row gonna start making there own money." first of all you mean 'their.' again, I don't see how this corresponds to his work ethic. I'm talking about Pac's WORK ETHIC maybe you should re-read the post I made again.

all of the other quotes are statements specific toward and directed at someone else. these quotes are not about his own personal habits toward producing music and being PRODUCTIVE. also, there is a big difference between mentioning how much you work when asked by someone, and going out of your way to tell everyone exactly how much time it took you to do things. Pac did the former.

maybe you didn't read my original post, if so take the time to do so, this thread isn't about Pac being a humble person in general. he was quite arrogant and big-headed. this thread, however, addresses the humility of his WORK ETHICS.

that's funny, I originally posted thinking that it was taking people about a week or so on Making the Video. must have been faded watching it or something, I rarely watch TV anyway. thanks for correcting me on this... still funny how Pac was annoyed with Dre about the video shoot though.

I'll even post the quote from Pac about the Cali Love video shoot in case you guys haven't heard it. it's funny, trust me.

guys, a whole other thing I just heard in an interview today...

I ripped the Resurrection extra features to mp3 so I could listen to the interviews and everything on my car cd player....

in one of the interviews, Pac says to Tabitha Soren that he thinks he has become much more humble, he thinks being humble is something a lot of rappers are missing, and he says to her "I think being humble is sexy.. I'm tryin to come on to you Tabitha..."

they laugh and he clowns some more on her, it's just a funny conversation, but you can tell what he had said about humility was no joke, he was serious about the importance of being humble.

also, I remembered today that in Fright Night, Pac says "... from the Bible I read, see the meek shall inherit the Earth, and the strong will lead..."

can anyone think of any more examples?
