reason. before i started using reason, i had done some equilazation in cool edit, "remasters". that's it. every production software has a steep learning curve in that while you don't know how to use the application, the terms used in it are also new to you. hundreds of knobs and buttons saying decay, attack, lfo, and such mean shit to you - which is why software samplers/sequencers often looks more advanced than they really are.

i say give reason a shot. an fl user is gonna say start with fruityloops, but i maintain that reason > fl. that is, of course, an opinion and not really a proven fact.

9th Wonder HAD fruity loops. he said in scratch magazine that he had to use it because he had no money to get anything else. so he is not really advocating its use at all, just saying if you cannot possibly get anything else, get fruity loops. if you can get reason, forget fruity loops.
and 9th wonder sucks! the only reason he got 'threats' with jay-z is because he hustled his work damn good! if anyone had listened to the pack of beats i posted on this forum, they were the exact tracks given to jay-z. needless to say, when you are giving a cd to a major artist you will put your best shit on it. jay-z thought all tracks were sub-par, besides one (which wasnt the beat in threats).
FL sucks, go with Reason.

9th still uses Fruity Loops actually. He said it in the Scratch interview.

And 9th is good, you heard Little Brother. 9th is the producer and they're heavy.

in the interview he also said that the beats on 'blueprint rejects' or whatever it was called wern't even given to jay Z.

what issue did he say he still used FL? i can get hold of any issue from a buddy. i got from 2004 on but he has nearly all issues before that.
i really doubt he still uses it. when he got with jay-z he would have used a studio with some decent equipment to make threats. and 9th wonder sucks, any decent producer on this board could surpass him or at least equal him if a chance was given. all his beats sound amateur-ish man... yes whatever, im hating but so what? the guy is a chump!

Issue # 8 w/ Jermaine or Swizz Beatz Cover.

Interviewer: Are you still using Fruity Loops exclusively?
9th Wonder: Yeah I'm still using Fruity Loops!

he still gave jay a beat CD and jay rejected them all besides one, which didnt even turn out to be the instrumental to threats... and wouldnt a cd you give to jay-z have your best stuff on it? regardless of whether it was that "black album rejects" or not, getting 20+ tracks being skipped through is not the sign of a great producer. threats wasnt even good, it was a mediocre effort. for the black album, it should never have been... but thats my opinion again

well- that shut me up, although 9th wonder is still a chump:thumb:
i just listened to his jay-z remix album again, and i gotta say that the guy needs some inspiration or something. all the tracks have the same vibe. he needs to do different things for different tracks...
FL is the cause, i say
