Just curious, what is an "MPC"? all i use is fruity loops to produce tracks...lol

MPC is a drum machine made by AKAI and is used from greats such as PETE ROCK ,DR.DRE ,FREDWRECK etc.It is used to usually just to make the background beat and 4 sampling.

About a year ago, a friend of mine gave me a copy of Reason 2.5. And I've used Reason since. On reason 3 now. I'm saving for an MPC though.

I use Adobe Audition an Recycle 2.0 to sort out my samples and chop stuff up before I go into reason.
Always good to have both Reason and external Gear such as an MPC.Sometimes folx get tired of computer mouse moving all day and want to HIT ON SOME PADS such as a MPC for making a beat besides the REDRUM.I happen to use to chop up samples before loading into Reason or the MPC's such as Pro-Tools (Mac) or Sound Forge (PC)Recycle/Adobe is just as good depends what you can manuever faster (that's the key) so you dont get caught up and lose your momentum on your building again THATS THE KEY!

Assassin, there are some kits by Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Nas, and some other artists that contain different kicks, hihats, snares, and other samples they use. I'm just wondering if you have any kits or any WestCoast type kits, because FL Studio 5 doesn't xactly have alot of WestCoast/Rap type samples. FL is basically techno samples.

^The answer is YES i got a KIT with so many sounds that i made and collected over the years that i will be putting on ebay or on my site soon anyone interested on gettin it can PM me Thanx !

If not made to make quality assurances maybe i can offer it from folks who PM me for now until research is done.As far as pricing going it's not carved until i go over the overall files.I want it to be affordable at a good price for folks and a tool to cherish forever.Let the beatmaking begin!

^^^MOOG SOUNDS are very intricate and depends what style you are looking for.The kit i was referring to is a drum kit not sound kit, however i do have a VINTAGE ANALOG kit i might have up for grabs in the future. If my assumptions are correct your looking for that hi powered or low powered worm sound correct? You will need an appregio or glide to get that authentic moog effect which cannot be found in a sample but keyboard settings. As far as the sounds what are you using to trigga the sounds?

Have ya heard WORLD WIDE DIME PIECES (Assassin Remix) go to www.myspace.com/assassin you will hear that same sample (Breed) which actually comes from the OHIO PLAYERS funky worm!

That sound is made by a real MINI MOOG made by the late great BOB MOOG if you want the true authentic sound from a keyboard. Most Moogs can generate that sound however are very expensive ill post up a link on it!

the "dre" and "kanye" kits suck...
make some connections with producers around your city and try to get some drums off them.
i have about 2GB of clean drums (not with the extra frequencies from synths/instruments on top). there's literally thousands of packs i haven't gone through that i have received off real people (not the net) and they are just mind blowing. then i have about 1GB of packs from sites like p5audio.com, modernbeats.com, banginbeats.com etc and all the kits from the triton (they suck), the motif (a bit better), the mo' phatt (very good but not there's not enough) and many other synths/samplers.
i am currently putting together a library of my samples together. just getting the best out of every pack and putting them in one folder for easy use when searching for the right kick or whatever.
by the time i'm done they should all fit on one or two CDs and i will probably sell them here on streethop. might send Rukas a sample and see if he wants to put them in the shop :)
don't hold your breath though, seeing thousands of folders just kills my spirit when i'm doing it, so i spend like 2 hours a week going through the shit.

:woah:
nope. although the DACs on the Moog alter the sound wonderfully (they are supposed to be clean converters but a lot of companies are doing this), it is just an analog synthesizer. You can make the same sounds with any analog synth that has some decent capability.
you don't have to spend big...

2 GB's of just drum kits, as in just kicks, hihats, snares, etc. Why do you need so much?

I have no idea what tha hell you said in your 2nd paragraph.

You cant just have the same Kick, Clap, Snare, and Tom that comes up when you turn on Fruity Loops on every song. Variety is always nice.

Yes and plus there are so many kix and snares claps hihats etc that give the feel to the whole song and i think are the most important and without the Heavy kiks and garage type distorted snares or clean A1 claps your song can be as dull as a subway window.

well, basically:
the Mini Moog is an analog synth. analog synths do not depend on altering samples to make sounds, they generate the different sounds (and combine them) using oscillators, filters and all this other mumbo-jumbo. any good analog synth will be able to create the sounds that the mini-moog can generate, with very slight differences.
when you asked if only the mini-moog can generate the "WestCoast moog/whistle sound", you proved to me you are not ready for hardware yet.
do some research and when you know enough, enquire further

good luck!

The art is to EQ, compress, layer etc. your sounds so that they sound different. I have well less that 1GB of drum hits that I actually use, but my drums won't be sounding the same, unless I just use the same break twice.

U dont have to own or have the MINI MOOG to find the sound .U have 2 know how to set keyboard settings and have the right keyboard to make those settings!
HOWEVER MANY RACKMOUNTS HAVE OLD ANALOG SETS ALREADY TO DO SO! PLANET PHAT IS one of them.
