Does it annoy you that people claim benefits (ie unemployment benefit etc) that don't really need it? That are claiming it falsely or just working them system so that they don't have to get a job?

I get sick and tired of over hearing people in the pub/shops etc bragging that they haven't worked for so many years and they don't need to cos they have the system worked out?

It really annoys me - this thread is NOT a dig against people claiming benefits who really need it i have no problem with that. It is about the people that don't need it and are just frauding the system.

What are you view's on this?

What do you think should be done about it?

My thoughts - hm. First of all, I never claimed anything that I did deserve. Second - I don't want to work so one day I might. Third - I don't believe that this world nor the system is fair. See you work for fuckin 7$ an hour while the damn company makes millions of $? Nope, I don't feel that - I wasn't made for that. See, since all this isn't fair, why should you play fair? DO you feel like they (the system) is fair to you katie? I don't. U pay taxes and shit and someone somewhere believes it's a good choice to waste that money in a war in Iraq or to build up a anti rocket defense shield or whatever they plan right now. I don't trust them, I don't believe in them, I do what I gotta do 2 survive, whatever that might be.

yeah i have claimed benefit before - when i needed it as i was out of work (for about 2 weeks).

no i don't think the system is fair, all my tax (which pisses me off the amount they get!!!)

things like family tax credits - the goverment has overpayed everyone and us the tax payers have to pay it back! wtf why should i have to pay for their mistake?

the nhs, everything the list could go on

what do you mean? i haven't changed my mind. sorry having a bad day

i think people on the dole (in the uk) who have been out of work for more than 2 years (unless they are disabled etc) should have to do some sort of community service to earn their money - may sound harsh but wtf should i have to work 45 hours a week fo rmy tax to pay for someone to sit at home all day? at least if they do some sort of community service they are giving something back.

u seemed to agree with what I said.....and I say cause the system isn't fair, you might have to cheat yourself a lil. You agreed with the first part at least....

Anyway, sure it pisses you off to work 45 hours and pay tax, see it would piss me off too, that's why I don't plan to work 45 hours, at least not for something I don't really care about.

I had an associate caliming for a month or two after he got fired for no-show. I don't know how he was getting benefits but he was. I thought it was pathetic but I knew he was that kind of a person. He'll most likely end up in some trailer park and claim benefits again. If he wants to live like that then so be it. It's a shame because his parents are very nice people...

I think we should build robots so we'd have more man... machine power to help check up on these lazy bums.

but if they do that then we're all out of a job. robots work for free, they dont need to be paid. if you were an employer, what would you rather have? a human who you have to pay and who is unreliable, or a robot who works for free and is never late or sick, or complains about the amount of work? LOL

as for the topic at hand, there are a lot of people who live off the system when they could easily get a job if they applied themselves, but choose not to. the answer? workfare. make them work for their benefits instead of just giving it to them. some states in the US do that, and they are considering doing that in Canada. although i like how Canada's system works now. instead of just giving people checks for nothing, they usually set you up in training courses or work experience programs so you cant just sit around and get paid. and i think that is a great idea

it pisses me off to work and have half my money taken from me. it pisses me off to go to work and put up with people that did nothing but kiss ass to get where they are. it pisses me off to work all of my life at the same job just to get shafted by office politics. and it pisses me off to even have to work in the first place nowadays.

so to avoid some of these annoying things, and many more, i claim benefits. most of those in my field of work do. we don't work year round and shouldn't expect too. and it's a catch 22 if you do find a permanent job. when i'm able to make enough money to not work for a good while, i takes my time off and claim. and once the claim expires or i get tired of being at the house, i start working again.

now i'm tryin to get my financials straight for a house and all that other grown up stuff. so i can't pull that off at the moment, so i had to snatch a permanent job. but believe me, i'd hop back on the claim train in a heart beat if i could still pull it off. and i'm hoping to one day be able to again.

cause going to work everyday. the same job. the same ol thing. over and over. for the rest of your life. fuck, i just couldn't do it.

the people who have jobs spend half there life at work, over here, what 8 hours a day, come home chill for a bit, bedtime, work again, same shit.. fuck work.. ive always had a job and got into the routine, but now im not working im not very bothered bout getting a job unless its decent money, fuck mininum wage! i make money other ways than going to some place and helping a multimillion pound company get by(what i use to do) and they coudlnt give a fuck about ya, i make enough to get by doing what i do now, but soon i will get a proper job like before and save my ass off (and still do what i do now) invest in some shit and retire, all before 40

i work in the tax credit office so i deal with working and child tax credit.
it's amazing the amount of people who i come into contact with who make it blatantly obvious they are working the system, most of the time there is nothing we can do about it.
and yes there have been massive overpayments. we have regular boring meetings about it!

I think it's pretty fucked up, people who do this always complain about how the system is unfair so why should they give a fuck yadayadayada I think they're full of shit. It says a lot about someones character too when they'd rather live of other peoples money than be real men (or women) and provide for themselves. There's nothing wrong with claiming benefits if you really need to, but making a lifestyle out of it is despicable.

Why are people so pissed off at big companies making millions while lower level workiers get paid less? If you had any sort of brains you'd get a better job or come up with a business idea yourself. You really think carrying out bullshit that anyone could do deserves the same pay as those who created and maintain the company? They're just reaping the rewards of hardwork they put in a long time ago. Real work that didnt involve doing the same shit everyday cos you're too dumb or lazy to do anything about it.

The above rant doesn't count if the owner inherited the company...the cunt.

And yes, I hate those that claim benefits when theyre not entitled to it. And I dont mind paying taxes if its benefiting those less fortunate than myself and providing me with free health care and services if I ever need them. And to all those complaining about paying tax (in the UK at least) I'd be interested to know what tax band you're in. I've found (so far from experience) that those that complain the most about tax are those who pay the least.

if you burned down trailerparks and ghettos, 99% of these people would be gone

look at it like that
don't do that. then 99% of the high society folks would actually have to get their hands dirty. or even worst, actually bust a sweat.

and we'd hate for that to happen.
