What I thik Melle Mel was trying to say is that we shouldn't put him on such a pedastal because in a lot of ways he or his life was a negative influence on hip-hop.

Is Pac the greatest figure ever in hip-hop? Without a doubt. Was he the realest? Unquestionably. The deepest? Arguably. But was he the best in terms of rhyme skills? No. There are a dozen rappers who could eat him up lyrical. Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Biggie, and Eminem to name a few. It's when we take into account all the other aspects of the art that we have to put Pac at number 1.

Just throwing that out there..

I agree definetely with the first 4 names, but eminem has better rhyming skills? The way he rhymes is most of the time: he chooses 8 words that rhyme and make sentences of them, that isn't really original. Plus I don't think his volcabulary is that big. Don't forget that pac was a real poet originally.

You see it more in his first two albums and the 8 Mile soundtrack than anywhere else. He's fallen off a bit since.

melle mel isn't trying to blame it solely on him though. he's just basically saying that compared to other rappers, he is more to blame. re-read what melle mel said, he said tupac brought negativity into hiphop, not that he created a nation of thugs.
Even if he doesn't put the whole blame on Tupac, he is using it to justify Tupac's exclusion from the best rapper's category. Like I said before, Pac had more positive influences than negative influences.

Maybe on the fans, but not necessarily on the music.

I'd also like to think that he had more positive infuences then negative. but, unfortunetly these days it seems positive influences are automatic and it shouldnt be taken in consideration as much as negative influences.

They(critics) would rather mention and talk about your 'fuck the world' attitude and how bad influence it had on society then about your 'save homeless people' attitude regardless of amount of positive influence he might have given to society. like Rizzle mentioned, its that lil dirty spot in the whole shirt is what gonna be pointed out not the other white parts of the shirt. like it or not thats how it is.

and this isnt applied only for 2pac.

Yeah but it'z lame as fuck to Blame pac for shit people are doin now, since he got killed. 'it's just a mark that'll always be on his legacy...","because we all know that Pac stood for (Or, if not stood, he didn't help to decrease) ignorance. That's a major flaw of his. "

If Melle Mel did say that Pac brought negativity to Hip-Hop then he's really a fag 'cause that's him who doesn't know nothing about real hip-hop...

...and when did ''Deuce 7 Tha Psycho'' said Mel doesnt like pac or his music in his post if you refering to his post.

hes saying in his post that why is Mel speaking out now after pac's death that pac is not a top rapper and that he brought negativity into hip hop. why he didnt say those things while he was alive.
