brief history for those who didn't already know...
live squad and pac had affiliation for a long time... pretty much since pac had started rapping stretch and the live squad had also performed at his shows. pac had introduced stretch and majesty to ed lover (co-host of yo! mtv raps) who subsequently got them signed to tommy boy records. tommy boy was a fledgling label when it came to hip hop at that time, and so signing live squad was a big change in comparison to their more radio friendly rappers (queen latifah, flavor unit, etc). ultimately live squad's hardcore style got them dropped from tommy boy (they elected to put out house of pain instead of live squad) before they had the chance to make any official full-length release. they did at least release a couple promos, including game of survival and murderrah/heartless. e-moneybags and maj started making indie moves, and stretch mostly made appearances on pac records (thug life vol 1 was a big one). as biggie came up and rolled with pac initially, stretch, big, and pac were big names together (evidenced by the live show from maryland). when pac went to jail in 95 after being shot, he blamed biggie of course, and when stretch continued performing with biggie (the man had to eat after all) pac perceived that as stretch having switched sides and allied with bad boy instead of holding it down for him ("switched sides, guess his new homeboys wanted him dead"). stretch was killed in queens after a brief car chase and gunfight that was likely over drugs/drug money. somewhere in this mess the live squad managed to film an ultra-violent minimovie, that is now available on dvd along with a bonus audio cd.
