Jogging

any runners in here?

i am serious about taking up jogging as an activity, at least 3-4 days a week.

something i did a lot of recently during my week off from work, when i realised i could run a mile in under ten minutes. i am am looking to increase my stamina even more and even contemplating entering into local/national running events in the near future, which is particularly an incentive for me to keep running and to build up stamina.

i did sponsored walks while in high school and was competative at 9km walks i would run them instead, just to finish first in my form class and get to go home early

Yeah. Occasionally but my stamina is far from perfect.

Jogging might be bad for your knees so you shouldn't overdo it.

stamina is something i am looking to improve on

i don't think my knee could get any worse, imagine training for a 13 mile, half marathon, run

Jogging is horrible for your shins if your doing it everday. I'd recommend using the ellipitical, if you own a gym membership. If not, be really careful and take care of yourself or you will regret it.

I was going to the gym 4 times a week during the summer and now I haven't gone for almost 4 weeks :(. I can't seem to find the time and the sad part is, the gym i go to is at my university.

I hate cardio altogether, but for my cardio I usually play basketball. It gets your cardo in, and it's kind of even in HIT form. I think I hate running because it is sooo boring. Even with your Ipod everything just gets redundant. If you do take up jogging, don't do it on a treadmill, that is brutally routine. Run some trails or even the roads.

I jog quite often. I play soccer and b ball so I run a lot. I do a lot of plyo and what not as well. If youre happy with a 10 minute mile kill yourself lol

Exactly what I do. I play ball at the gym everyday, and i'll get on the treadmill once a week just to reassure myself that i'm not losing a step.

Try to mix it up. Jogging, sprints, long distance, etc.

I used to but I've gotten out of the habit. I'm thinking about starting up again soon.. I like running in crisp air vs hot and humid. Plus no insects to smack into your face during the colder weather :)

I agree with Ray.

I jog around the road or through fields sometimes. i couldnt go on a treadmill. Its better to be outdoors imo. especially in rain and cold weather. it will make you mentally stronger.

There was a time when i could run about 8 miles without stopping. now i can do just do 2 before i need to stop for a breather.

Make sure you stretch well beforehand.

you must be pretty fit if you plan to enter the marathon?

Seriously, I have a few friends from my elementary school who enjoyed long distance running and most of them have problems with their knees now and they will suffer for the rest of their lives. Now they can't do basically any sports that require you to use legs a lot.
They can't even walk for too long, take stairways etc.
Knee injuries really suck and they happen pretty often to people who do sports.
The heavier you are the more destructive it is for your knees. Up to an hour/day if you're not overweight and your knees seem to be fine is perfectly good though.
Avoid hard surfaces and buy yourselves good running shoes. Go to the forest or something if you can.

i LOVE jogging and running. great way to clear your mind and release stress. excellent for circulation of oxygen to your brain and muscles too.

i should do it more often. right now im very unfit compared to 2-3 years ago when i was in tip-top condition. we had a fitness testing module in our sport science course and i made the most of it back then. also the gym at college was free which was a major contributing factor.

i need to get back into shape. great for confidence too.

Used to, now I don't. My stamina is declining. It used to be absolutely ace, now it's so-so. I might go for a nice few winter runs when the weather turns sour and I feel up for it. There's a nice stretch through the open country to a village and back, about 10 miles. Used to like that, but if I pick it up again I'll have to ease it in.

I didn't mind cardio back when I played soccer, but I didn't really like it either.

I enjoyed running cos you're alone and it's partially a mental thing. At some point you get tired but you gotta knock through that.

Also, you can make shadow boxing moves like Rocky to look cool.
