in an accident tonight

tonight i got into a really bad accident...almost life threatening. was coming off an exit ramp and hit a sheet of black ice which i saw coming. there was nothing i can do about it once i saw it, but i spun out doing about 55 mph around the turn and saw nothing but the divider as i smashed into it as my car did a 360 and the rear smashed into it. after i bounced off of the divider i kept spinning from the fucking ice and felt the rear of my car smash into the divider and then i ended up smashing into the guard rail on the right side of the highway. my air bag failed to go off which it probably should have being that i was going that fast. the traffic was pretty damn high too but luckily they all swerved around me. honestly, as i hit the divider the first time i literally felt my whole life flash before me as corny as it may sound. i never knew how that shit felt prior to this day. many of you might say that im lucky to be alive but to be honest with u...i drive an audi a4 and im really worried about the cost of gettin the front and rear fixed now. i hate mother nature.

yea but i wasnt drunk...i had a couple drinks with dinner. enough to give u that little buzz and put u over the limit but not enough to impair judgement.

and the only injury i have is my back has been hurting me all day. i just hope its not anything serious.

One of my friends was in an accident last weekend. The driver was drinking and he tried to drift around a corner. The car rolled a few times and landed on the side. The 2 ppl in the back (my friend) were thrown out the back window and the 2 ppl in the front were thrown to the backseat and had to be pulled out.

She has 5 fractures in her vertebrae. The guy that was driving was paralyzed for a few days and if he's charged with a felony he's going to lose his job.

Consider yourself lucky.

How do you know that the alcohol didn't affect his judgement? What if he'd hit someone else?

see, that's the thing. you may not have been drunk, but there is a reason why the legal limit is as low as it is. because even one drink can impair your reaction time. you said you saw the black ice coming and couldn't do anything about it, but you could have slowed down if you had seen it coming. your timing may have been impaired which is why you couldn't stop or slow down soon enough. the lesson to be learned here? don't drink and drive. period. one drink isn't much but it could mean your life, or even worse, someone else's. if you had hit and severely injured or killed someone else in that accident, the "i only had a couple drinks, i wasn't drunk" defense wouldn't work too well.
