harmonic balancer... wow

i have just tried this neat little tool out at my friends house. he showed me a beat he just made and did a little mixing (2 minutes to even out some levels). i thought the beat sounded cool.
then he ran the mix through this thing and i was amazed. it is like a complete mastering thing in one plugin (you do not process each layer with this, just the stereo mix!). i am not sure how much better mastering could have sounded, but if i sat down all day to fiddle with all the different instrument layers i could not have gotten the beat to sound like that. i don't know how this works but the website pretty much sums it up- it seems to be impossible, but the results speak for themselves...

this can be used in conjunction with mastering, but if you get your levels right (mixing as best you can) before processing it, then only an experienced mastering engineer (not the $10 internet service) could produce a product with any noticable improvements...
IMO this is great if you wanna make something sound good quick.
you can use presets of commercial tracks to apply balancing to yours. find a beat (or whole song) that you like sonically, and use that as a guide. it works wonders. some people don't know how it can sound so good, because it works with a complete mix, not individual tracks. as i said before, results speak for themselves...

btw, you can get it for free if you know where to look :)

Ok the way you explained it made it seem like you just open the song and press a button and its mastered, lol.

Well anyway, I downloaded it and really I don't know exactly what to do, I just try to make the wave look more like the reference wave and most of the time it doesn't sound good.

Someone mind schoolin me on how exactly this works?
