I'm practical. I don't feed into a lot of shit that isn't backed up by some kind of evidence. If you don't use the tools you have (knowledge, reason, insight, your senses) to make decisions and build your ideologies then you're basically opening yourself up to believing and/or endorsing ridiculous notions and ideas. People have vivid imaginations. They like to invent and perpetuate supernatural ideas because it's fun and mysterious. Talk about UFO's, ghosts, life after death, what have you. I don't believe in these things. Now, that's not to say they can't exist but it is to say that there's not enough evidence to form a solid opinion that they do, in fact, exist.
I was reading this article in my local newspaper recently and they were interviewing this philosopher-type about shit and he was saying how he was dedicating his life to destroying the credibility of these "posers' who were saying they could predict the future and communicate with the dead. Like all of these ludicrous tv shows you see where the hosts allege that they can "communicate with the other side." Basically, a bunch of bullshit that they are conning people to believe in because many of us are searching for hope in our lives and we often feel we need to believe in something bigger than us; something vast and beyond our wildest imaginations. These people take advantage of that urge. So I was basically talking to two other co-workers about the article and saying how I thought it was great that this guy was exposing these "phonies."
This one girl tried telling me that ghosts are real and that she once had "a conversation with two people who were never there"
LOL she's like what do you think about that?
I said "I think you're a loony tune"
What do you guys think about this kind of thing?
