beat structure?

#1
i have an idea about this is there like a standard structure for most genres liie in my eyes:
Hiphop= 8bar Intro
10bar Verse
8 bar Hook?
10 bar verse
8 bar hook?
6 bar outro?

i was thinkin of structuring mine like this:

8bar Intro
10bar Verse
8 bar Hook?
10 bar verse
8 bar hook?
8bar breakdown
8 bar hook
6 bar outro
im not really sure of the proper way to do it i know most cases its down to the artists or the vocals u are mixing on it.

You got it all wrong my friend..

it's

4 to 8 bar intro
16 bar verse
8 bar hook
16 bar verse
8 bar hook
( 4 to 8 bar bridge )
16 bar verse
16 bar hook
8 bar outro

1 bar being 2 snarehits...

the last verse can be changed tho'

hip hop beats are not absolute in any way.

biggie sometimes did 20 bars.
bridges are absent many times.
number of verses vary...
etcetera

i like to think of it as a sub-chorus. there are other ways of looking at it.
listen to hail mary: 'If it's on then it's on, we break beat-breaks, Outlawz on a paper chase' etc
that's a bridge right before the chorus. just another thing to swing the beat up and add another catchy rhyme. :)

bridges are usually used to change up , so it's not too repetitive that's why it's normally used after the 2nd hook ..
of course the number of verses and hooks can vary , but the way I posted it , is the way it's done most of the time

And sometimes people don't use hooks at all , but most of the time they do , and , again , in the way I posted it

standard 100 bpm?
hip hop is 60 to 105 bpm , isn't it?

anyways :

"The only way to change me is maybe blow my brains out ( bar 1 )
stuck in the middle of the game to get the pain out ( bar 2 )
Pray to my God every day , but he don't listen ( bar 3 )
The poverty bothers me , but mama's working wonders in the kitchen ( bar 4 )
etc..."

making music is about being creative. come up with your own formulas and beat arrangments. do something nobody else has done before. try new things. you dont have to follow a certain formula for a specific genre, becaue there really are none. it just depends on the overall song and the artist.

You shouldnt conform yourself to a "set" structure when making beats. Do some creative/experimental shit...do something thatll get you noticed, not blended in with the rest.

once again, there is no standard, rather a median. the median is probably 75-110, or 50-110 if you wanna include dirty south :D

a standard, new, empty reason document is always at 100bpm, i am guessing he was a little bit confused or his thoughts were drifting as he wrote his post. if i'm not mistaken, critikal uses reason.
