2Pac Recording Sessions History

#1
I suggested this to Dante a few weeks back but I guess while his site is down he can't/won't do it, so I'll throw it out to the general public and see what y'all think.

I think the best thing we could possibly work on, rather an A-Z list of songs that are unreleased, would instead be this:

Create a sessions history, and try to find info on all songs recorded at different recording sessions, based on others that were there or who have remnants of evidence from studio time (which generally has to be booked, right?)

I know 2Pac was in the studio way more than any mainstream artist I can think of in 1996, to such a large degree that it's gone generally documented.

I'm also a huge Nirvana fan, and I've noticed they are one of the few mainstream artists out there that actually has all their studio time documented extremely well.

Question is, would any of the "connected" heads in here be willing to work on such a project? I don't want anyone to step up who then can't deliver with getting the information. I also don't need any credit for suggesting this idea, I just would love to see someone do it and get it out there. Someone may need to get in contact with Johnny J, QD3, any of the producers, others who were present at the sessions and have information/knowledge as to what was recorded, etc, but I think if this were done it could be a huge information asset to the community.

Well? Anyone think they could do this?

Sounds like a good idea, if someone connected did it then we would get some info on tracks we never even heard too. :D
Well if people don't want to put out info about unreleased songs that's fine, but can't we at least know about how many studio sessions 2Pac did, when, where, and what was recorded at them (even if it has to be limited to songs that we know of)? Shouldn't be too hard if we can talk to producers present, or even guest artists who were present at the sessions, or anyone who is affiliated with a studio.

It's a good idea, but alot of the time when artists who recorded with pac or produced beats for him are asked about recording sessions with him, they often can't provide clear answers because they just don't remember. I'd like to see it happen but I think it'll be pretty difficult to put together.

It would be difficult to do; I agree, but almost anytime you go to a studio to record you have to book studio time and on the reels usually it's written what the date was and whatnot. Even if DR had its own studio I'm sure they documented everything that was recorded and when.

If Amaru has the reels, can we contact someone within their organization and find out what dates are written on them, and what tracks were recorded? If it even means contacting DR and even paying someone if they demand it (which shouldnt be too much since this is info, not songs we're talking about) would someone be willing to do that much at least? I certainly would, if I was provided information/contacts, neither of which I have.

what Nick said. they wont simply be able to remember shit that happened over a decade ago. i dont think this will get far.
but theyll be able to recall a few details and details add up, but can also lead to misinfo. also im sure some people could dig up some sort of documentation that could lead to answers. it just takes time and following lead after lead.

all you have to do is go song by song and look up whats listed in copyright databases and phone numbers should listed. if you call the phone numbers they should be able to give you info that will start you off

I suggested this months ago.... A recording session time-line is going to be very difficult to get information on unless we have actual legitimate insiders (JJ, Shock G, QD3, etc..) who are willing to give up information, not just a bunch of e-thugs on a message forum.
