Best and Worst Summer Signings?

#1
We're coming up to the January transfer window and there are bound to be some big moves, but which of the summer transfers has been the best?

In England, big name transfers Ballack, Shevchenko, Tevez and Mascherano have all failed to impress. Benni McCarthy, Nicolas Anelka and Obafemi Martins have all done better, McCarthy scoring 5 times this season, Anelka 3 and Martins 4. Kanu, who moved to Portsmouth for free, is the Premiership's top goalscorer.

Personally, I think Harry Redknapp has probably been the most astute. Sol Campbell, Glen Johnson, David James and Kanu have all done really well. Everton's signings have done well too; Johnson and Lescott, and Howard on loan. Woodgate's done well at 'Boro.

Andre Ooijer might be the worst signing of the summer; scoring own goals, conceding penalties...he's had a torrid time. Mascherano and Tevez have been disappointing, Rosicky and Baptista too.

^yup, Tevez has been West Hams best player in the past few games actually, especially vs Everton. Mascharano hasn't been given a chance really.

Anelka has been absent until the past few games, im still not convinced he'll do well at Bolton.

Isn't Andy Johnson going through a goal drought? he started well...but seems to be off form.

And to think people pointed to Liverpool's signings as proof they'd top the table this season. Ha!

I don't watch much Spanish football, but I've heard that Zambrotta and Thuram haven't been great for Barcelona either. And some Bayern fans were unhappy with Podolski's performances too, IIRC.

Thuram looks set to leave in January.

Ruud has been a good signing for Real, Vieira for Inter.

Shevchenko and Ballack have been disapointing for Chelsea, Pennant for Liverpool.

From the games ive seen Zambrotta has played well, and is a starter on a regular basis. Unless they have a game before the CL. Thuram is quite happy to stay on the bench apparently  He started games recently though.

Emerson for Real Madrid gets jeered by the Madrid fans. Though it has been said because Capello plays both Emerson and Diarra together, making Madrid rather defensive.

Back to flops..

Hasselbaink for Charlton.

Sums him up perfectly.

In the words of Martin O'neill "hes probably the worlds most overrated player"

MON is god. So don't disagree with him

Martins looks a great signing... He's been unfit most of the season too... When he broke into the Inter team he was amazing... Hoping he'll get better... Maybe score a few against Chelsea ...

Yeah sad about Adriano, couple of seasons ago he was destroying defenders...now it doesn't look like he cares, maybe a move would do him good.
