Nah, it's hard to do that when all you do is work yourself. If I won the lottery or came across a real lot of money some other way, that would be a different story. I'd definitely do shit to help people in need. The only thing that sucks about that is you can't help everybody.

Devoting your free time to the needy. Any of you thought about community service?
I always wanted to, but work and other shit always gets in the way of going out and doing something like community service.

But since I can't do it that way, I sponsor a few kids thru out the world. Its International-Children, where I give them a certain amount a month and it goes towards the childs food/education/medical needs. The kids have written personal letters and stuff thanking me, it feels awesome when reading it and responding to them. Knowing that even tho your like 7000 miles away from this child, their living a lot better bcuz of something your doing.

9 outta 10 times, when I see an homeless person, I usually go out and buy them food. There was a handful of times, I've bought them a blanket and socks and ish during winter time.

I have a weird weakness when I see homeless people. I always tend to buy them food and/or whatever I think they need..

..minus booze/drugs/cigarettes and shit.

Btw, welcome back Zimb, missed u man..

..no homo..lol.

i am such a bitch i cant see myself in the 3rd world countries.

some people tell me some horror storys of children in India, that just hurts to hear about.

i dont think i can work there because i would take shit too personal. end up taking drugs to clear the head.

Yes this is something I've been thinking a lot about. I'm not naive enough to think I can change the way the world works but it would be nice if I could help at least one person to a better life. I've been saving money for a while to go to Ghana to teach maths and english to orphans, hopefully I'll get to go some day. I don't know if that will be enough to really make any difference in their lives but who knows, must be better than not doing anything.

I do this too, everyone should. It will only cost you like 20-25 dollars a month to make a huge impact on someones life.

Can't say I have, the only thing I honestly do to help the needy is give them a few bucks when there on the corners asking for change.

Perhaps someday I will do more, I just get so busy with work and what Im doing in my life I tend to overlook those that really could use a helping hand.

I know what you are trying to say Zimmy and unfortunately many take what they have for granted and don't realize what they have is a huge blessing.

However, lifestyles have become so busy and so hectic it is hard to go out of your own way to try to help a cause other than your own.

For me the reason for not doing anything is because i believe most charities address the symptoms of a problem rather than the problem itself and no matter how much you try to help you'll end up back at square one.
agreed.
charity begins at home

Nope...why? At least a little sentence man.
I was just kidding man. I volunteer at the local animal shelter once a week. Usually I take dogs for walks or play with the animals there, or clean their cages and comb them down etc. I'd like to visit a 3rd world country and do some charity work at some point in my life. I'm thinking that it will probably happen once I'm retired because I just don't see myself having enough time until then. I'm the kind of person that when I do something I only do it if I can do it 100% and charity work is something that should never be done half assed.

lol. no diss man lol but that's a pretty idiotic thing to joke about.

i'll explain. assume the possibility that more people on here shared your way of thinking and said some random shit as a joke just cause they couldn't be bothered explaining or something, and that in this thread there were a possibility that that had happened. imagine that some of the readers might not be sure about how they feel about it. reading other people's thoughts could affect their thinking, bring on a sort of "guilty conscience" that got a few more people into doing charity. hearing you speak about how you value the experience could turn people, or help people expand their ways of thinking.

on the other hand, if a few people "joked" about never having thought about it, coupled with all the people who truthfully never considered it and never will, people would have less to talk about in the thread, it would die out quicker. whereas a thread that lasts over a week or so sticks in your head for a while.

i'm just reaching here, it's a pink bubble way of thinking. when i said idiotic that's not really what i meant. it sounds like i'm telling you i disagree with you, it's more trivial than that, i would just have expected that if you're a person that does charity, you do it because you care, and you'd want to share your positive experience with as many people as possible. even from your last sentence it sounds like something you take somewhat seriously, so i don't see why you don't carry that shit with real pride lol.

yes, all of the time.

I let people merge into my lane often or let people know how bad they're driving by showing my middle finger.

Other than that - I promote American obesity. I know this will have influence on fatness of wallets for others but one sure way to get rid of obesity is to kill off the gene pool by giving them early heart attacks. The world will be fit again, you'll see.

I see what you're saying but if a few posts on a message board have that much of an influence on someone they're already a fucked up person. Also you should know that 99.567% of my posts aren't serious, they're all me fucking around, being sarcastic, or making a joke. I've probably made 10-20 posts where I was being 100% serious.
