and I'm not even talking about the "does God exist?" discussions, but really simple things like...dating a nonbeliever.

the only time i got pissed of with a christian was when an old ex girlfriend of mine was a religous told me.

I was a SHIP WITH NO HARBOUR! because i did not believe.
i would respect her religion but there was no need to offend Atheists!

most of the time i feel religion causes violence not love like they all seem to preach.

I have a close friend who is very religious, sometime's he's annoying, I don't hang out with him to go out and get fucked up or shit like that, but If I need to talk to someone to get their opinions on things, it'll be him. He's a very intelligent person, but man is he devoted to God.

Semantics. Violence committed by ignorant religious people would be non-existent if there were no such thing as religion. Religion provides a breeding ground for ignorance, encourages it, and nurtures it.

I'm replying anyway because I had a serious reply.

My best friend (girl) is an extremely religious christian who always quotes the Bible. I love her very much because she is a sweet person and very positive. When I first met her years ago, I wanted to get involved with her even though I'm like the antichrist compared to her beliefs, plus all that Jesus and God stuff was irritating to me. But, being a guy, none of that matters when you see a pretty face. However, for her there was no chance that we could be more than friends because of my lack of belief. So after a few years of being her friend, I realized she was right and I now believe. No, I realized that we really shouldn't be more than friends. There was no way i was going to change and there was no way she was, and that was a major incompatibility that would make us both miserable. But as friends we can just manage it and we will be that way for life.

one of my friend became that bible thumper that she wasn't and then she started to tell me how i should get married, stop having sex til then. i asked wtf is wrong with u, u never were like that. she goes to me "i went to a church, they showed me a video of someone resurrecting (a video i was like wtf, how can u know if its real, must be fake) and now i fully believe in god, and u are going to go to hell if u keep making those wrong things with ur bf". i was like wtf (this was like 5 months ago, obviously after then i made not to keep in touch with her.

then i saw her in the bus a few weeks ago, she's like whats up. i go i just moved in with my bf (me happy and waiting for a congratulation) she goes, whaaat? living in sin! whats wrong with u, get married or get out of the apartment.

since then i hide from her, i hate people like that

for some little examples

I don't know any bible thumpers...but I have a friend that is Atheist and he annoys the hell out of me sometimes. If I tell him "Happy Birthday, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy New Year etc etc etc" he says "I don't celebrate that" I can't invite him to and holiday gathering because he doesn't believe in god. Wtf does god have to do with the 4th of July??? He has Atheist tattooed on his arm.

This happened last year in the centre of my city, this guy decided he was going to stand right infront of the Goths and started preaching and shit, telling them they are going to hell and their children will goto hell etc. then it escalated and the crowd got pretty big, not just goths but chavs, asians etc etc, in the end he got beaten up and bottled over the head, for some reason this was cut from this video. shit lasted for like 30 minutes. was kinda funny to watch in the flesh.

I'm familiar with the term Bible Basher's. I recall getting into a conversation about reading the bible. Being the bookish type I own lots of books, and one of them happened to be a bible. I don't consider myself religious but because I admitted I own one (and I have a cross tattoo) some bible-basher basher decided to start playa hatin on me. My counter argument was simple and beat them down. I said 'you are gonna end up getting married in a registry office, do you know why? because people with money and class like to get married in churches, but you won't because there are bibles in churches.' I continued "where are you going to take your children to be christened, to the lake? Because if you take them to be christened in a church, you have to pick up and sing hymns from a bible, stfu!"

I wasn't gonna stand there and try to justify god to them, so I just attacked their view on social engagements that involve churches and bibles. They couldn't say shit to that, not when they came from a family that had christenings and weddings etc
