Wow, I just had a debt collector show up at my door looking for the previous people that lived here over 3 years ago! Pretty forceful dude, I tried to explain it wasnt me but he kept asking to come in and see my passport, eventually I just told the dude to fuck off and said if he ever came back I would fuck him up.

Im considering calling the cops or something. I mean, I still get these peoples mail every now and then, mostly junk, but what the fuck, that cant have been legal?

I am really furious. Makes me look bad in front of my neighbours...

Hahaha yea dude some of these debt collectors are insane!

We always get mail for unpaid bills from the previous owners of the house I live in. We haven't had a debt collector come to the house, yet, but i wouldn't rule it out.

We moved here 2 years ago maybe they'll be at our door in a year as well.

Some of those guys really need a beating. Are they on commission or something? Why are they so fucking persistent.

Of course they have to leave if you ask them to. They also have to leave you alone and cannot harass you if you tell them not to.

All you have to do is get your lawyer to give them a call and they'll never show up or call again.

When my gramma first came to this country, she couldn't speak English or French.

So my grandfather had forgotten to pay something off that he didn't know he had to, technically his business partner never told him, and he one day while he was away from work. Debt collectors came into my gramma's house, the problem is... they didn't even ring the door, or knock on it. They knocked the fucking door down. Funniest shit is, my gramma threw a pot full of boiling water at them thinking it was criminals. LOL.

Long story short, eventually my mother came home and was able to calm everyone down.

Shoulda just showed him your ID and k.i.m. He might think you're trying to be slick and come back at night and tow off your car or someshit.

I didnt have my wallet on me, just a bad coincidence I left it in the studio the night before, and thats why he was asking for my passport and I dont like flashing my passports around. I showed him some mail addressed to me but he was just retarded I think.

I live in the city I have secured underground carpark he cant touch my car or bike and plus fuck Id like to think he would run the plates and realize it is registered to somebody totally different.

the problem with a lot of these guys is that they take their jobs way too seriously. but the flipside to it is that these guys are lied to all the time, and it gets to the point that they always believe they are being lied to. i imagine it's gotta be a stressful job sometimes, and some of them just snap lol. i've had some pretty persistent debt collectors on my ass over the years, but i never had one show up at my house before. that seems like it's going too far lol.

I've never encountered or heard somebody talk about encountering debt collectors. Are you retarded enough consumer-wise to have debt collectors on your ass, know people retarded enough, or live in a house/apt in which previous inhabitants were retarded enough to have debt collectors on their ass?

Being sent to collections and having bad credit is like having a felony rap sheet in america.

lol so people who are in debt are all retarded? i've been in situations where things out of my control (for the most part) have put me in debt, like having the place where i worked close and put me out of a job. when you get even a little behind with some of these companies they sicc the collectors on your ass. and i don't know how it works down in the states, but here in Canada things like that only go on your credit record if you refuse to pay and get taken to court. i've been in debt several times and still have a good credit record, because i eventually pay all my debts.

but to assume that only "retarded" people end up in debt is pretty, well, retarded. do you think that all the people who live in poverty and are in a perpetual state of debt because they are just scraping out a living are retarded? use a little common sense man. and i hope you never end up in debt, but if you ever do you might see how easy it is to end up in that situation.

Of course I am generalizing and it was mainly said in jest. I do think, however, that a good number of people who are in debt and don't pay on time and then deal with these problems are the ones who make poor consumer choices. Surely, there are outliers. If there's one thing I agree with McCain on, is that a good portion of the housing market's problems are due to bad decisions made by the people. Can't blame the banks for it all.

There's a difference between being in debt, in the sense of having a lease or a loan and paying it on time. That is fine. But, not paying on time and then fucking up, I don't concur with.

It's easy to end up in that situation if you have a low-paying job, bad benefits, and you're a "retarded" consumer. :D

well there are definitely some retards out there who make really bad decisions, i would agree with you there. but there are a lot of people out there who can only get low-paying jobs with bad benefits because they couldn't afford to pay for a higher education, and so they make do with what they can. living in that way, it's almost impossible not to run across a few debt problems, so i wouldn't hold that against them. however if you have a low-paying job AND make bad consumer decisions, than i concur, you would be retarded :)

Are you retarded enought to .... live in a house/apt in which previous inhabitants were retarded enough to have debt collectors on their ass?
How the fuck am I supposed to know what the previous owners did?

And from my understanding the situation was that they had a mobile phone plan 24 month contract thing which is the norm here and then moved back overseas without canceling it and that is where the debt has come from.

That's not what I asked.

Nonetheless, I always took you for a psychic.

Actually you did ask that, you posed the question "are you retarded enough to live in a house where the previous occupants had bad credit."

To which I am asking, how does it make me retarded to not know who lived here previously? Theres no way to check these things, so how am I or anybody else supposed to know?

Are you retarded enough consumer-wise to have debt collectors on your ass, know people retarded enough, OR live in a house/apt in which previous inhabitants were retarded enough to have debt collectors on their ass?

Therefore, you would answer with "Yes, I do live in a house/apt in which previous inhabitants were retarded enough to have debt collectors on their ass."
