The Kind Of People We Are

So I was thinking today, what does being active members of a message board say about the kind of people we are? I mean, the majority of people don't go to message boards in their free time and vent about their personal lives, ask questions, discuss issues...et cetera.

So what does this say about us? How are we different and why?

What do others do in their free time? Sleep, watch tv, read? I dont think it says anything in particular just that we prefer to communicate with other people during that time.

I'm a normal guy, I just like reading other's opinions on matters that could also apply to me in the future or do apply to me now, I'm some sort of "hidden psychologist" so I like to analyze typical responses, analyze typical personalities and learn.
I also sometimes post to get opinions on matters I have no idea about (fe. cars).
I already got rid of discussion opinions so usually I just post mine but don't even want to get into discussion as it takes a lot of time and usually won't convince anybody anyway.
I think we all are normal people who have their own reasons to be here.

I also got used to posting and reading SH. It's entertaining.
There are nice people, there are idiots, there are class clowns etc. and it's just.. kinda fun.

Reading message boards is like a modern interactive magazine reading. You get knowledge and it's usually verified by more people than one idiot writing stupid articles :D

When I first joined this forum, back on some other account before I lost my password, it was like one big Tupac fan club. It was a lot more alive than it is now. I would be in the life/death forum every day. That's how I became an active board member, and how I see it. Like it's some unofficial fan club, with add ons.

There's a fantastic universal sense that whatever we are doing is right, that we are winning. And that's the handle, the sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. We have all the momentum. We are riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.

I think we are helping bring the world closer together where as other people are just trying to maintain their life. We are interested in the lives of others and the communicating with and learning about the world around us where as other people are only care about the suburb around them.

I think we are leading the way towards the future.

I think the world will be a much better place when our generation and the generation after us reaches positions of power because we have a sense of the whole planet being our community rather than just what is in our borders.

That's a nice thought.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I started off going to hitemup.com solely to read up on Tupac news and hear what others had to say about him. I guess I expanded my horizons along the way and got to know a few board members (however vaguely) and began becoming interested in other issues people were going through.

I also feel that I can ask questions on a message board that I can't really ask people in real life.

I agree. There are certain language barriers in our day-to-day relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, that don't effect us in the medium of a message forum. We are part of another medium.

It is a small world, with a big network. We are all travelling along telegraph road; the communication/information superhighway. The internet is heaven sent in this sense. And back when I was at high school, we didn't even have mobile phones.

If it wasn't for the forum I'd still be cooked up in my room reading paperbacks, writing my thoughts on paper for no-one to read, before I throw them away as irrelevant notes. Whereas here I get to vent my thoughts and opinions. Other people get to read and reflect on them, and maybe post their own opinions. We all get to learn about what it means to be human in the end. It's the essence of communication.

I know for a fact that I would not be here if a man named Tupac Shakur did not exist. You can talk to me about a message forum and its members, being centred around a particular artist. I can then talk to you about an artist that understood the essence of language, and used it as his own art, his own medium of communication to the masses. We are merely an after product in the discussion of a cause.
