why? and who is john peters?
Jon Peters is the founder of HitEmUp.com which is the reason most of us are here. He retired and Ruk took over.

StreetHop was founded for the purpose of being a general hip-hop site whereas HitEmUp was obviously a Tupac site, but both sites shared the forum as obviously there was obviously already a lot of general hip-hop discussion on the Tupac board.

Then the HitEmUp domain name was stolen.

That's basically the bones of it.

From what I remember Jon started HitEmUp.com and Chris was on board from basically day 2. Rukas day 3. They ran it together. You had the site dedicated to Tupac(/OUTLAWZ)... at its peak HitEmUp was probably the most important 2Pac site on the net... and the forum, 2PacBoard. Jon and Chris went M.I.R.L. StreetHop launched, ran by Rukas and SicC (HitEmUp OG). HitEmUp's domain name got hacked. HitEmUp/Pacboard were put up under new domain. New HitEmUp called it quits. Now there's StreetHop the site/forum + Pacboard. Caesar runs it together with SicC. And somewhere in between all of that I felt up Preach's mother.

My memory isn't always reliable though so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The four disciples were Jon, Rukas, Chris, and EDI. SicC was the bastard child.

Jon started the site. And there was actually a period where Rukas wasn't even on here. It was mainly Jon and Chris running the place. When I first signed up before the Great Depression (the server crash) I didn't even know who Rukas was. Then like mid 2001 he came out of nowhere and pulled a JMall2000 saying I'm back. Since then, Jon and Rukas pretty much ran it. Chris slowly faded away. And Edi...worthless. Rukas has run this place since late 2002.

There are a few of us original posters left. Some people on here I see have registration dates of 2002, but I don't remember you from then cause you've had a billion name changes. Example, Preach. I know you were Rizzle and RideOnUm, but you had to be something before that because I don't remember you being here that long.

To be a true OG, though, you have to have a registration date of 2001. A lot of people from 2001 were here before that, but the server crash fucked it all up. And anyone from 2001 is considered OG too. You'll also notice that there is a period in early 2002 (I think 2002) where there are no users registered in that time frame. Jon closed registrations for a long time because we didn't want n00bs.

back in the fall of 1998 i got pac's greatest hits. a little into 1999 (it was winter so either after christmas 98 or the next winter) i got s4mn and still i rise and i remember that i started going online after that. i wouldn't post, but i had an account on here because for several periods it was members only, and i also used to read on musicfantalk because that one was open.

i used to go by something really gay. i don't remember but something along the lines of makaveli_the_don86 or something. up until 2000-2001 i pretty much never posted except for in the actual tupac forum. i never went to the other sections so i wasn't much a part of the whole community. i remember when you got those uteot clips though, i don't remember the exact thing you said but you were joking around in the thread you posted them in and for some reason you wouldn't say where they came from.

later turns out there was a snippet promo out lol. but yeah. there's my story.

lol actually it was Better Dayz clips. That is vital to TB/SH history. Everyone from other message boards visited here because of the rumor that we had the clips. That was actually right when SH was starting. (damn you are bringing back memories here) this was actually when I was still in the IN on tupac shit. I had the right connections and I knew the right people. I knew the guy that ran 2Paclegacy and some other people that were in the Amaru Ent camp.

I've never told anyone this before, but the way I got those clips....it was back when Morpheus (or Kazaa) was the biggest P2P download client. The guy that ran 2Paclegacy was on my buddy list on there. I saw he had these clips (actually it was like a 5 min long promo, on his list. I took them. Then with Rukas we posted them on Streethop's main page. That guy was so mad at me I remember and I was scared for my life because I was a little bitch and he was talking about suing me blah blah blah.

Looking back on it, it wasn't a big deal because it was just a promo that was going to be released anyway, I'm sure. But I was the first to get it (that anyone knows of) and it was probably released way earlier than what it was intended.

lmao yeah i remember the story now that you recap it. and yeah, there was a better dayz 2cd promo (lol?) with snippets. they would all fit on one cd, but they appeared in the same order as the retail release on two cds.

anyway, the public tupac scene has gone to hell now. latest news were that dante's father passed away. there was an online memorial tribute website that, among other things, had a guestbook where friends, family, and other people in the community could leave messages. you remember that guy who recorded all those wack tupac re-do's, Jossy? he went on the memorial and talked a bunch of shit about how he was glad his father died because evil dante bootlegged 2pac's music. he had to have them take down the guestbook, after a bunch of people had seen it of course, and even after that, Jossy's little pawns messaged him on AIM talking about how Jossy claimed to have poisoned his father. it's so fucked up. Dante is gone from the public scene forever. I quit too, and pretty much EVERY one of the people who were serious collectors with hookups have left. So it's noobs running the scene now.
