Nah... I tend to find most Americans still hang on to the nationality of their descendents. It doesn't matter that they've never left the country. Sorry to cliche a whole nation. But...
When I was in Cancun it was Paddy's day. Lots of Americans considering themselves Irish. I proceeded to ask all of them about their Irish-ness, and about the places in their part of Ireland. This led to more heated discussion and eventually to fisticuffs... I was doing my bit for the English cliche of drinking and fighting...
My dad is Irish. I do not consider myself Irish in any way at all. I am 100% English.
