Pitbulls Killed Due To Denver Ban

#1

As part of the feature story on the effectiveness of the Denver's twenty-year-old law outlawing pit bull breeds, Westword posted a photo blog of dogs impounded in a section of the municipal animal shelter known as Pit Bull Row. Now, photographs have surfaced apparently showing some of the estimated 3,487 pit bull carcasses that have been carted away from from the shelter since the ban was enacted.

The photo-taker, who asked to remain anonymous, tells Westword the pictures were taken in 2006 on the grounds of the city animal shelter. According to officials, animals euthanized by the shelter are removed by a contractor for disposal.

After a one-year moratorium, Denver began to again enforce the pit bull ban in 2005, causing a 77 percent increase in the number of dogs impounded in Pit Bull Row. City records show that between 2005 and 2006, 1,454 pit bulls were put down, leading to the large pile-ups of dead dogs depicted here. Click photos for full size.

This story really pisses me off. They have no right to kill the Pits. Since they ban Pits in Denver. Ship them out to another city or state. Not kill them. Looking at those pics makes its fuckin sad.

^^they are dangerous though. i dunno why people keep them as pets especially if they have little kids.

the people who kept the dogs even though they are banned are as much to blame imo

Thats just not true. There is no conclusive evidence to support that pit bulls are more dangerous than other dogs.
If you look at the ones that have attacked people, look at how they were raised, then you will see why they were that way.

Only 2 things make a dog dangerous.
1. Ignorance
2. Bad owners.
I have a Cavalier King Charles that I can train to be a killer if I wanted.

Dogs are just like people in that its all in the upbringing.

Pit Bulls are without a doubt one o the strongest dogs out there, but if they are trained right they are no more dangerous than other dogs.

^^thats what i mean. if they arent trained right and brought up poorly. If they attack a child, they can do far more damage than most other dogs. same applies to Rottwielers and Alsations.

Another thing worth noting is that male dogs can turn very vicious all of a sudden.

I have a Long Haired Daschund. I wanted to call him Sebastian, but we settled with Misho.

They look like this

But serious, this looks like mine, but just darker.

Hoping to get a Dalmatian someday...

Here's my boy, Kenzo. Dont ya just love him?

Heres another:

And another one of him trying to look tough:

Keco: Lol, yeah ours is notoriously lazy and stubborn.
The thing is, you have to train them over and over and over and over! they have to give in before you do!

Bobby: Oh, I thought you meant they are ALL dangerous. But yeah theres no reason people with small kids cant have one. Iff its trained right.

Man....I've had 4 friends get their pits taken away. I have no fucking clue why but really in 2005 shit went hectic. they started snatching up dogs left and right, they'd come in and take the dog with a warrant, it's ridiculous. I still have a couple friends that keep pits but they only take em out at night and shit like that, it's sad for the owner and the dog. you shouldnt have to live in fear over your pet cus of a biased ass media. hate this shit. I miss my cousins little doggie named Cognac, he was so cuddly an nice, and yup they came and took him. Sad

Also.....

Dogs aren't dangerous, its being badly treated or forced to be violent that makes them dangerous.

Even wolfs can live people as long as they don't see them as a threat.

Sad, I have a pitbull terrier and love him like a brother. He's really friendly and playful, never once in 4 years has he shown any intention of causing harm to anyone.

Can't look at those pictures, I hate animal cruelty.

I could seriously stab someone in the eye with a fork and stand there and laugh at them, but I could never bring myself to hurt an animal.

Well, maybe VG's dog, that dog's a lil bitch. lol jokes

That was sad. I don't understand the reluctance of some to spay/neuter their pets. Usually there are places that spay/neuter for a reduced fee depending on income levels and everything. Gawd that's awful. I agree, why didn't they just ship them to another state?

Innocent creatures dying because of the ignorance of a few makes my heart hurt. :(

I bet these people won't get tried like Vick. Compared to him, they should get life...but we hold different people to different standards though.
