Thats cool an all. But when your infinatley better at your job than everyone around you, you can wear whatever you feel like. Thats what I'm saying.

Well no shit.

Again, no shit. I'm not saying being a CEO is an excuse for dressing like a bumb. But if I own a company and I feel like coming to work in a tee and shorts I can and I will. What the fuck is anyone gonna say to you? You own the company and control their income.

Where I live there is a smoking ban in ALL public places. Well one day I went to my dads work with him and we get in the elevator and some dude pulls out a cig and starts smoking as we get out so my dad says to him "you know theres no smoking in here, right?" and dude responds "I own this building, if I wanna smoke in here I will." Its kinda like that.

I wasnt talking about the CEO I was talking about workers, thus I said people that choose to work there. The boss can do what the fuck they want.

That is why I dont work for anybody else, I have to be the boss in whatever I do otherwise I get frustrated.

I don't agree. It doesnt matter how good you are, performance has nothing to do with fashion. It's like saying that Jordan could have worn boxer shorts on the court if he wanted to because he was "infinitely better" than everyone else.

You choose to work there, you choose to be in that environment, then you should wear what is expected in that environment.

What's next? Because you are "infinitely better at your job" you can take longer breaks? Shit at your desk? Not shower for weeks and stink the office up?
Oh no doubt if your an employee. I thought we were talking about CEO's. I know my other post doesn't really imply that though. Yeah if your a mere employee and you feel like disrespecting the dress code your retarded, no matter how good you are.

Yes but you still shouldn't do it. Just because you own the company, doesn't mean you should do it. You're putting yourself on top of everybody because you have the 'power' and you own the company. Thats being a dick and unprofessional.

I agree. If I owned a company that was based in an office I would enforce a strict dress code, it is a respect thing. Plus, if you wear shorts and a T and feel relaxed, productivity will go down.
I have no idea how you can come to that conclusion.... but go tell that to Google.

I went to a school with a uniform once, as soon as "casual" day came around we'd get drunk during out breaks and did shit all that day.

6 or so years ago I worked in an office, last job I had. I used to have to wear suit pants and a nice shirt, all good. Once shit got more casual and Id rock up in shirts and jeans I started slacking off, smoke break all the time, on the phone, fucking around. I know my productivity fell because I felt more casual and lounged around more.

Those are some weak ass excuses, moronic and funny at the same time. Especially the school one, I guess if you dress like Tupac you have to act like him too? I know you have all seen the Google videos where they show you how they work. They are casual and lounge around on sofa's and shit. Try to tell me they aren't productive. Their record rise as a company tells me exactly the opposite of what you are trying to say.

This seems to be the general mentality in Poland and one of the things I really hate about the country. When I am in Warsaw people dress like total shit and I have to almost downgrade my wardrobe to fit in, I hate being seen as a tourist. Its like most people just wear cheap shit from the market.

Maybe things have changed or maybe I am exaggerating a little, but seriously, I doubt I will for example see someone rocking an Ed Hardy t shirt in downtown Warsaw.
Yeah I guess most people here don't care about clothes much, and I personally like it because I also don't pay attention to looks, and I don't know why it should be a bad thing. People can dress in whatever they want untill they're clean and don't look gay or like total bums. I wouldn't wear something totally shitty but it doesn't make a difference which brand's t-shirt or jeans I wear. Most people I know just wear casual 50$ jeans and plain shirts no matter how rich or poor they are.

I had that time when I liked to look really well and bought the nicest clothes I could afford but yeah, people here just don't care about that. I felt like an idiot because nobody dressed like that and on every occacion even my friends told me to wear something more casual. When you walk through Warsaw you won't see anybody "shining" with his clothes. People wear casual, basic things. If someone dresses "like a rapper" or simply wears too spunky clothes he's either a tourist or a villager trying to impress, but here in Poland people (mostly those Polish famous street dudes) have that mentality that when you look too different you're not well perceived.
Also whenever I see someone wearing baggy clothes I hear that "he shitted his pants" comments. That mentality is in fact stupid, and to think of it, it's probably the same mentality that makes Polish people dress totally plain and simple.

About looking elegant -sure there are situations where you have to wear a suit or just dress properly for a specific situation, that's personal culture, but I just don't see a point to judge someone by how expensive suit he wears.

It's true. Putting on a suit is like putting on a uniform.

The "I'll wear whatever I want" rebellion is stupid; it is about showing respect to yourself and others around you based on where you are. I wouldnt wear a suit to a basketball game but I wouldnt wear a basketball jersey to a wedding or work environment.
It's respectable within that system. But what masta and I are saying is that the system is stupid and pretentious.

This 'system' been like this forever, people have been following this system and wearing certain attire at certain occasions to fit in. But here you are the only smart one tryna change it or calling it stupid. It is a very good system.

The whole rebellious ''I'm free I can do whatever I want'' attitude is getting a bit out of hand.

I'm sorry but you can't just say 'clothes are made for covering your body' and wear something funny like begging pants in a graduation party because it makes you fell comfortable or something. Nor can a CEO wear shorts and tin top going to the work in his office. Thats just ridiculous and I bet you're just saying that and you wouldn't wear something funny in certain places.
I went to my friend's grad not too long ago, I wasn't graduating, but I dressed up, black pants, nice shirt, shoes out of respect for the person getting a great honour. I almost shreaked when I saw people wearing ripped jeans with Jordans and an Enyce hoodie stepping up to the podium.

Where the fuck is your self respect asswipe, you're accepting your BA, not a The Source award.

I guess you don't know what Google is doing? Yes, they're letting people dress more casual, but they're using humanistic psychology as a basis to all their changes. It's a psychology that stimulates self growth that mixes behaviorism and psychoanalysis, it was under the radar for a very long time, but slowly building back up since the 50s. The clothes is maybe 1% of the major changes that effects the person. The main buildings in Los Angeles or New York city have 3 free cafeterias, a gym room, running track, each employee have an extra hour or 2 a day to do what they feel like, if that's taking a nap or what not, + curricular activities including playing with your Wii or 360.

It's not the clothes that isn't killing the productivity, it's the fact they get to step away from the desk, and refresh themselves before coming back to their office.

I know what they have that's why I brought em up.

It's not that they get to refresh then come back to work, they work while refreshing too, heh. Sittin on a comfortable ass sofa is refreshing, it's lounging, yet they are able to get work done.

I almost want to go with the guns don't kill people....... arguement. Who cares if clothes make you feel casual you still know you have a job to do. I think the problem lies with the person in the clothes not the clothes on the person.
