Wordz 2 My Firstborn (OG) Question

#1
I don't think this has been answered before, I know Quik produced the remix of Wordz 2 My Firstborn off of UtEoT, but who did the OG? I understand the sax was added later, but who produced the OG, it's amazing. Did Quik do that, too, or just a 'Pac mainstay like Johnny J? It sure doesn't sound like a Quik track at all if it is.

Definitely a track that didn't need to be remixed, even by Quik.

DJ Quik produced all versions of Wordz To My First Born. The version with the sax was originally going to be on Nutt-So's album

the version with the sax was a remix of the original which had the same beat, but without the sax. the one that didn't have the sax did end up on nuttso's first album.

recorded at death row studios for nutt-so's betrayal album... interestingly enough he didn't have the master to use for his album, so he used an unmastered cassette dub off as the source for the version on his album. the few people on here who own that album know what i mean... side b is totally bootleg. quik later edited in the sax and chopped nutt-so's non doubled vocals part (if you ever get offers to trade for a full sax version then don't - it's just my mix that some asshole is selling). quick produced an initial remix for uteot and later polished it up to be the album version.

The UtEoT remix completely changed the mood of the song (like many posthumous 'Pac remixes) and not for the better. The OG is definitely in the top 10 unreleased/OG 'Pac songs that I've found. It just sounds very subtle for a Quik beat, you usually have a distinct signature sound from Quik, very understated, but good job on the OG.

By the way, has anybody noticed that Quik doesn't seem to like putting choruses in the songs he did for 'Pac, and this even goes back to All Eyez on Me. When it's not just silence (Wordz 2 My Firstborn OG & Remix), it's pretty much just scratching (Heartz of Men, Late Night, Loyal 2 the Game Remix). Just something I noticed.

Hey wait a minute, he did it with Pac and a few others but that's not necessarily its style.. he's the king of the talkbox in Rap, he did some of the best hooks ever.
Yes he rarley uses R&B choruses and that's a great choice.
