What do you say?

When someone says that Pac is overrated and was weak lyrically or is not the G.O.A.T., what is your response? How do you try to convince them otherwise? Cus I notice that only the real die hard die hard Pac fans like me and the people on this board will always automatically say hes the greatest.. But people outside that circle tend to disagree more... Thoughts??

Well I thought he was and is the greatest because he rapped about everybody rapped about then and now but what seperates him is that he really cared I don't think people actually listened to his lyrics because his thug persona but listen to Ghetto Gospel for the lyrics(when I write rhymes I go blind and let the Lord do his thing) he was deep and he also was a story teller listen Mama Just a Little Girl & Brenda's Got a Baby and when you get older like myself you actually listen for lyrics more I think I relate to him because I'm like the youngest cat where I work at people look up to me because I stand up for thing when other people don't have the balls to say like Pac did this cat was like a speaker at a Malcolm X dinner @ 20 speaking real shit I know people say Biggie but there are real issues in the world that rappers don't address even Nas said it that since Pac passed no one raps about real issues anymore because that's not the cool thing it's all about rims, clubs, hoes and other shit

roll them a joint and put a cd in - my sujestion is all eyez on me.

i actually did it to one of my comrades - he used to listen to Life After death alot, and i mentioned pac one day (I'm not really trying hard to convince anyone that pac is da greatest and u should listen to his music - everyone has the choice/chance), so he said that the only tracks he likes were R U Still Down? and I get around - so we smoked and i gave him all eyez on me cd - he left home - told me he was in a car for about an hour listening :) he still comes around sometimes asking me for some unreleased stuff

i say, stop listening with one ear open and really listen to what he says and you will agree....and i also tend to argue with other people about respecting other music..i respect all music as long as someone in the worlds gets away from their troubles in their life...including britney spears and all that shit..even though i hate that music i still respect it..because if a little girls parents are in the middle of a divorce and she turns on britney spears and she forgets about whats going on..i have respect for it...does anyone else agree?

I think he was the most charismatic and a very important figure in rap.
I also think he is pretty much accepted as the GOAT.
But I understand he wasn't the greatest in all areas and that he still needed to grow.

Maybe we shouldn't convince everybody.
e.g. my friends don't really like Tupac's music but as long as they respect my love for 2Pac's art it really doesn't matter. We are cool.
It's all about we should repsect each other's feelings....like 'Pac said:"...you don't have to bump this but please respect it..."

I just tell them to listen to his mucsic, and i mean REALLY listen, listen to the issues he addressed with his rhymes, the way he told us stories bout life in the ghetto. IMO most people who aren't die hard Pac fans believe him to just be a gangster who wanted to kill everyone, thats why they cant see past that side of his music (ie. Hit Em Up, When We Ride On Our Enemies) but they should listen to songs like Brenda's Got A Baby and Mama's Just A Little Girl

P.S If you don't think Pac was the greatest why not? and who is?

IMO he's the greatest and will always be. and a thing i have noticed is the things pac used to do and rap about people are doin now. this tells u pac was way ahead of the game and everyone in it. he was at a different level.

Back in the day when I was younger I would explode with a big drawn out argument explaining how he is the greatest. Now I dont really bother, people have their own opinions and I leave it at that. People who listen to and appreciate Pac's music know why he is a greatest.People who dont fully understand or appreciate Pac's music are the ones missing out on something they could take with them for the rest of their lives.

Too me Pac is the greatest and by a very long distance he is the greatest, what he said went way beyond hip hop.

i used to tellin ppl that they know nothin about Pac ...
but now i dont care 2pac 4 me is tha greatest and dont care what others sayin

i'd tell them to listen to one of his songs... any song... unconditional love, for example. If after paying attention to it, someone still says that pac is overrated, he's insane.

But i know people who don't like him, and the problem is that they don't like hip hop, and i respect them. But compared to other rappers he's the best

I was playing My Block in a parking lot with some boys and they like
"I don't like 2pac. He's too mainstream. All he talks about is crack and shit."

Initially, it started a fury inside me, but I smothered it and figured what the hell, you know.

Of course I stood up for Pac but whatever, he can turn his head if he wants

most of my friends know that pac is the greatest but they like all types of hip hop, but they always look forward to a new pac song or album that comes out, some dont like pac, thats their decision, its them missing out in the end
