Do you wish you were? Are there times you wished you could move here? That you went to university here? Or even that your parents moved here when you were younger or not even born so you grew up in the American culture?

Just curious.

what is the rule with welfare money? like can you abuse the system and get it for life? or is there a set time frame you can claim unemployment?

and england > australia (except the weather).
But the Weather is a major part of why Australia is so good. in England, you have rain, rain and snow. You have a short summer that last's for about 15 minutes and a temperature that desperately tries to break into double figures yet fails 9 times out of 10.

Here, the sun gives everyone a naturally sunny disposition. There's no reason to be unhappy, so we're not. You British are a lot grumpier. Sure, you have reasons to be grumpier.. cos it's shit there.

We have public barbecues and open-air swimming pools for anyone and everyone to use, or sun bake next to. Not to mention the Australian women!
This would never occur in England, because your teenage delinquents would vandalize, wreak and piss on the barbecues. Plus it's too cold and shit to have open air swimming pools.

Last i heard shitty England doesn't even have drive through Bottle-o's, why bother having to get out of the car to stock up on a delicious slab of Carlton Draft, when you can do it from the comfort of your own car seat?!

Did I mention England is shit?

I think I would have been happier going somewhere in Europe when my family had the chance in the early 90s. Not Germany, though. They kick you out later. But Luxembourg was one of the choices.

i was born and raised in england. a couple of years ago i spent a year in australia (mostly on the west coast- 6 months in broome and a few south of perth) and i loved it. the climate and lifestyle is incredible- going to the beach whenever i wanted, and just being able to put shorts on every morning was great. since ive been back in the uk (got back in december) i havent even though about wearing shorts. i need to fine me an aussie girl..

ive always wanted to go to LA though, i really like the look of it, the climate and the lifestyle. i dont think you can get visa's like you can in australia though, so living there would be unrealistic but im definitely going to visit one day

Yeah. I'm moving to the US next year. Have wanted to since I was 12 when I first visited.

Green card application is currently in progress.

I've been done with the UK for a long time now. Heavily dislike this country for a myriad of reasons.

I have this idea of the Netherlands being this wonderful place. I've never been so this is all based on research done... so I could certainly be wrong.

I think my family could've been better off somewhere else if they had've picked another country to move to when leaving the Caribbean. I'm done with the US.. it's just hard to relocate to another country. As soon as I find somewhere to go though, and things fall into place with work, and I can bring my dogs.. I am out of there. The US is certainly better than many countries.. but it's not an ideal place for someone like myself. I do recommend it to all Christian white straight men though.

I really wanted to when I was a kid and every American movie in the early 90s was so cool. Yeah, America was cool back then. That's why I wanted to learn English.

Then when I was growing up it seemed more and more "meh" to me. Especially now when America sucks more than it ever did and it doesn't seem to change for better any soon.
After all I think that most people in this thread are right. Life is just so much better here in Europe now, even in Poland. I mean, there are many nice things about America but also a lot of things that suck big time. The longer I live the more I dislike about America.
Also, I always disliked that American materialistic, shallow mentality and how people are raised there.
When I started thinking about my kids' future I wouldn't want them to grow up in America.
Also right now I'm much better at my own language, about how things work here and I know I can achieve a lot here. I wouldn't find myself an university as good as the one that I currently study at as far as my skills and interests go and I would have to pay shitloads of money for any good education there.
Sure I would like to study there for a year or two out of curiosity if it was free - mostly to meet more international students and feel that specific atmosphere.
I wouldn't have as many opportunities though because in America you have to pay a lot for everything that leads to financial success.

But yeah, sometimes I think that it would be cool if my mom moved to America when I was a kid because back then I really wanted it. I'd love to see how it is to grow up there and then decide for myself after having experiences with both countries but I'm also afraid that it'd spoil me and make me inferior as a person.
Right now moving to America would be entering the unknown world that is different from the world I'm good with. That's why I plan to live there for some time in the future, just to see how it is for the old times sake but I don't think that I'd prefer to be there in the long run.
But America is big and maybe there are some nice places I'd feel good at too so it's not a definite "no" from me.
It's more of a "I would like to give it a try but most probably wouldn't want to stay there for any longer time".
