The sky is not blue. It is only because blue is the most dominant colour in the 'light spectrum' why the sky appears to be blue. Heed and be taught.

Blue is not the most dominant colour in the spectrum at all. The sky is blue because blue is at the short wavelength end of the spectrum and it so happens to be the short wavelengths that are absorbed and scattered by the gas molecules in the air.

And even if "blue were the most dominant colour in the spectrum", the sky'd still be blue because colour is merely our own perception, regardless of it's physical cause. Whether it's wavelengths or little gnomes puking blue vomit, blue is blue to us.

I mean, goddamn, if you're going to be smug and arrogant about something at least check if you're actually correct or not, hm?

You say it's not blue, then say it is right after??????????

I never said the sky was blue. I said the sky appears to be blue because blue is the most dominant colour in the spectrum of light. Imagine if you was looking to the earth from the moon, the sky there doesn't have a colour. It is only because blue dominates the colour of our atmosphere here on earth. It is simple light Physics. Imagine looking to the sky without atmosphere. Think what is behind that blue sky you see in the daytime? is it not a black and colourless expansion of space? Space has no colour.

And once again you are wrong. :)

Blue is NOT the most dominant colour in the spectrum. The lightspectrum does not have dominant colours. It has wavelengths. For that matter, it has no dominant wavelengths either.

The sky is only blue when it's clear, during the day with the sun shining. It's obviously red during sunset and dawn, grey when overcast, etc etc.

Space is black because there is nothing to reflect the light. Being colourless also becomes a colour, like being heat-less becomes cold.

ok, your points and mine taken into consideration. I state that Blue is the most common colour connecting the spectrum of light and our perception of it through atmosphere. Wavelengths and everything taken into consideration, we have an atmosphere on earth that reflects the colour of the 'sky'. That atmosphere is made up of air and water, two prime elements. It is these elements that reflect the colour of the spectrum of the sky.

Um, no. There are no dominant colours in light spectrum.

There is no dominant colour in the light spectrum. Everything reflects visible light at an exact wavelength, that wavelength determines what colour we see it as. Therefore since space is basically empty there is nothing there to reflect light which is why it is colourless.

I mean come on man. Air and Water are two prime elements? I mean come on.

How did my 8 word response turn into this?

There's actually a very small amount of water in the atmosphere. Most of it is nitrogen and oxygen. About 98% of it. It are these gas molecules that are largely responsible for the absorption and radiation of light. Water molecules and dust particles are much larger than gas molecules, and do not absorb and reflect light.

Three strikes. You're out.
