Thug Life Questions

#1
I bought this Thug Life CD very soon after it's release. However, it has puzzled me for a bit that the CD i bought, which is not a bootleg or fake (so you know), didn't include the transparent tray-card of which you see today and also in late 1994. Does anyone know about this? Was the first US pressing absent of the transparent tray? Or was this a factory error in the production?

Also, on the single for "Papaz Song" it says in the credits, Thug Life's album, "Out On Bail" coming soon. Not exatly those words, don't have it in front of me. Anyway, what happened to "Out On Bail"? Obviously, it must have became "Volume 1", but why the name change? And did 2Pac ever mentioning making a "Volume 2"?

i bet the assembly plant ran out of charcoal trays... i've gotten a few albums with inconsistent plastic myself.

as for out on bail, it was thug life vol 1 before all the huge cuts and remixes. i think pac had probably intended vol 1 to be a springboard for the solo careers of the thug life members, with reunion albums to follow, but after his prison stint and signing to death row he only really worked consistently with syke. this is only supposition, but it seems to make sense to me.

btw, the tracks on the papaz cd single (as well as all other strictly and 2pacalypse promos and singles) are mastered WAAAAAY better than the album versions. too bad for the common folks, good for the collectors.

thanks dante for the input.

and i agree, the b-side singles for the first two albums, include better mastering production.

as far as out on bail, it would have been interesting to see some of the early plans for that album, including track-list ideas, art work sketches etc. i guess the only one's with type of material would be the record labels..

i have heard some of the demo tapes recorded for the thug life album, and there were well over 50 tracks recorded for it - some having leaked and some not. a large amount of matw was originally laid down for thug life, but was either re-recorded or remixed and then put on that album. the original intro to the album was about 11 minutes. imagine how amazing this album would have been had interscope not butchered it to be more friendly. don't get me wrong, every cut on there is a classic in their own rights, but it could have been so much more. shame on interscope.

I wish they had put it out like that.
