Someone from another forum sent this to me and since I haven't been here consistently, I don't know if this is old news or not, but I thought I would share it.

Finally, if some of you pac fans want to overlook and sleep on the "Thug Life" LP, then I'm happy that some true hip hop fan or fans can recognize it as a classic. I'm tired of always hearing about MATW & 7 day theory. If you all in this forum can't recognize some of 2pac's other works, I'm glad someone else can.

Thug Life is my favorite Pac album by the way.

This is one of my favorite albums also. id rate it closely after MATW/AEOM. Eazy Mo Bee did a dope job on a lot of the producing and its a solid album.

another one on the top of the list that caught my eyes was Camp Lo's. I think it was released in '97, they came with some good shit and style anybody who hasnt heard "Luchini" should check it out as well.

.

During its release , 2pac had crazy legal problems as we all know and constantly in and out of court. So he couldnt promote it as well as he would of . Plus interscope kept gettin on his back about censoring songs , and replaceing songs ect...

It was more of the time it was release , it was kind of a bad time 4 pac... 1 of my all time fav albums

Thug life lp is by far the best group album I have heard. Brilliant lp, even the tracks without Pac are golden (Dont Get It Twisted pure fire). And it has the best Pac/Strech combo in Under Pressure

just think Thug Life LP (already amazing) could have been a whole lot better too with tracks like Runnin, Im Gettin Money, Is It Cool 2 Fuck, Thug 4 Life, Thugz Get Lonely Too, Hennessey, etc cut/dropped. Didnt Dante say that over 50 tracks were made for this release?

I'm Gettin Money wasn't meant for THUG LIFE, why the hell would he have 2 songs with the same lyrics on the same album?

So you're saying that Thug Life is better than, oh I dunno, Wu-Tang's 36 Chambers?

You're on crack :)

Scarface - The Fix is not underrated,it received 5 mics by The Source.
The Fix may be listed as underrated because just like the "Thug Life" LP, I don't think the album should have sold what it could have potentially sold and I don't think the promotion was enough to help that album get the exposure it needed. Hell, I don't even know or remember the first single off of that album.

Wasn't "Pain" suppose to be on the Thug Life LP? How about "High Till I Die"? I think if "Pain" or "High Till I Die" were on those albums and used as video singles, the album would've took off.
Anyway, I'm telling you guys that Pac in 1994 was at his best. That should've been his time to
shine. I can barely think of a song from that era that I didn't like.

If he was to not be sentenced to jail and was able to continue up until 95' with his rollercoaster of good songs from 94, I think we would've had even more better songs in 95 than probably any other era.

with regard to the underrating of thug life, it's actually very simple... when the album came out 2pac had recorded two videos (cradle and pour liq) but basically his sentencing completely destroyed promo opportunities for the album. it don't stop and how long will they mourn me received minimal video play and next to zero radio play. the paramount problem, however, was that short of the people who knew what thug life was, there was no sticker of otherwise identifying sign of 2pac on the cover or back. i remember when makaveli came out there were stickers everywhere stating 2pac is... makaveli, exit 2pac enter makaveli, etc. interscope dropped the ball in marketing this cd without highlighting that it is a 2pac + these guys group effort. ...after all, do you think still i rise would have sold more than 3 dozen units if they hadn't put "2pac +" right smack dab in the upper left?

that candyman was a pretty lame rapper completely unrelated to candyman187. hit up amazon to listen to his snips.

with respect to az, e-40 said it best... "all up in your videos, champagne and coffins filled with scrill. everyone know your punk ass ain't got no mill."

I've been saying it for years that Thug Life is pure crack. It was 100% pure classic. I put that album next to Illmatic. It was short and sweet with nothing but replay valuable songs. It's obviously my fav. pac album. That's the album that got me on to 2pac in the first place. Nobody wanted to listen in this forum or on the net period.

People just wanted to follow the same trends and talk about me against..., all eyez on....., makaveli; don... and talk down on LTTG. Hell, some people in here even said the album was trash and one of pac's worst albums ever. I was so lost for words and pissed off, I can't even tell you. But I'm glad it's finally getting it's recognition.

2 bad it's taken 12 yrs later for a list to come out and point out a classic when it was so obvious. What's sad about it is that some pac fans even sleep on it.some members in here even. I won't name names though. u people know who you are.

^^ the problem is that interscope destroyed it. they changed the name from out on bail to the generic vol 1 and remixed several tracks to be more uptempo and friendly. the remix of cradle was cool, but the og had a lot more bite to it. likewise, being that pac had recorded so much for this album, it would have been smart to add on a few more songs. ...it was almost an ep, especially if you consider just he 2pac songs. this album could have been done a lot better, but it's still a classic that in many ways began 2pac's west coast sound.
