This really just proves my point about American Education.

Gotti, it's obvious to me and I'm a dumb American, so it must be obvious to you: EVERY COUNTRY HAS ITS IDIOTS. You have this weird hangup with American dumbness. I guess it makes you feel superior to the monkeys on the other side of the ocean while you sit and ponder why your unmatched brand of intelligence wasn't doled out equally at birth. Walk out your door and find some native dumbness of your own. And please stop making obnoxious threads like this.

And yes I learned about the Titanic in third grade you fucking dolt.

Then again, the public education system in this country is awful. Truly despicable, and failing harder daily. I, however, was not its victim. Catholic school all my life, and say what you will, I got a better education for it.

Fair enough. I agree to an extent. America is very self absorbed.

In England we are different. We are taught that the British Empire was evil, and we must apologise to the rest of the world and make amends for the actions of the rich (none of whom I am related to) about 200 yeas ago.
Just like our white 7th grade teacher when doing a unit on slavery. He seemed so apologetic in his teaching, and a lot of the whites in our class were upset that they felt he was trying to bring out their white guilt and basically apologize to all negroids in our class. That's the only time I ever had a teacher that was blatantly biased when presenting history to us. Funny thing was, he was our English teacher, not our history teacher. Our history teacher was a mid-30s, expressionless, 6-foot red-headed woman. Monotonous. But she did not celebrate the enslaving of blacks anymore than the end of the Holocaust. She just told it like it was. No BS.

And that's when I realized how similar FOX News was to her style and began loving that too.

You have this weird hangup with American dumbness. I guess it makes you feel superior to the monkeys on the other side of the ocean while you sit and ponder why your unmatched brand of intelligence wasn't doled out equally to the simple Americans? Walk out your door and find some native dumbness of your own. And please stop making obnoxious threads like this.

Yep. What irked me is using this bullshit as evidence for that. At least use a good example if you want to feel superior. Also, yes, I too noticed Prize Gotti only comes out of his shell when its time to compare and contrast the US vs. the rest of the world. You would think he really hated this place if it weren't for the fact he really likes this place. He likes Seattle more than me probably.

People get deported from the US and usually have the same approach. Being an immigrant myself, I have come into contact with plenty of these people. If they aren't deported, they're forced to leave for some other reason and they're sour about it. People use the excuse "I wouldn't want to live in America. Americans are fat. And stupid. This and that." Right. And the millions upon millions of people that come here, by any means necessary and whatever the cost, they're stupid too, I'm assuming.

Europeans are just as ignorant. How do I know? When they try and point out ignorance in another country, thousands of miles away, as if there's no shit on their fingers at all. What the government does without our regard is...well...out of our control. If it wasn't for American politicians telling EU leaders to bite the curb, it'd be some other country's leader doing the same thing.

TL;DR We are the best and anyone that's on their high horse about Americans in general, is on a high horse standing in a mound of its own shit.

Nah... I hate all governments equally. I hate the American government and it's foreign policy, and I hate the English government and even more of their policies. At the end of the day my issue is with the greedy capitalists. The only politician I actually like is Obama. But... it's a shame he is a puppet.

Might be a dumb question, but... A catholic school is not a public school? You have to pay for your education directly?

In England we have State schools which the majority attend and are paid for by taxes. And we have schools you have to pay for which are usually about 50k a year and up. We call these Public or Private schools, which probably doesn't make sense.

Our state schools are a mixed bag and you can have brilliant state schools and shit state schools. It is a post code lottery and your location makes a big difference and can really affect house prices. My sons school is the best in his borough. But the house is also the most expensive post code in the borough.

Catholic schools are considered ministries. Or any religious school, for that matter. They are allowed to have their own set of regulations. These schools, however, are private and you have to pay a lot to enroll there.

Education or the culture? We have stupid people here too but damn, either less of them or they don't flaunt with their lack of basic knowledge on the internet as much.

But no, seriously. I often hear that "Americans are fat and stupid" generalization and every generalization has some merit, but I suppose quoting a few idiots to prove a point that American Education sucks so much might not be the best idea since it also offends the bulk of this board , since it also in some way offends their education. So they're angry now!
I've met smart Americans, I've met stupid Americans. Perhaps their education system isn't great but most things we know, we learn by ourselves. Schools are meant to show you direction and teach basics. I agree that American system probably fails to teach a lot of valid basics but it's not the root of the problem.
I think there's something in the culture - it appears that it's okay to be an idiot, or a huge ignorant and live normally there. Ignorants aren't discriminated and they hang in packs, so they aren't even aware what they should know, so they aren't making any attempts at fixing themselves. There's nothing that screams "learn how to be a contributing member of your society or you'll be worthless, you're still too stupid". At least that's how I see it.

What you all forget, which I have stated time and time again over the last 9 years, I used to live in America, for a total of nearly 5 years. I am partially American.

You think I "assume" Americans are poorly educated, I lived with you lot and grew up with you in my family. I know Americans know fuck all about the world.

Stop getting mad because you know its true.

Five years is not enough time to judge a country as a whole. I could be wrong, but each part of the US has its own stereotypes and you don't experience them unless you actually live in each one of those regions for an extended amount of time. Not five years.

Where in the US were you?

I'm not offended at all. I have confidence in my intelligence, at least it not being at the level of the people quoted on Twitter. But it is a bit unfair to judge an entire country based on fucking Twitter.

Keep in mind the person trying to bring you down is 30 and still goes into internet chat rooms and gets girls to take their tops off. He's like the UK equivalent of Jeremy.
