The most impressive kick Ive ever seen...

Have you seen the Protector? He did one continuous shot of him fighting up stairs for something like 4 minutes and it only had to stop because the cameraman was tired from walking up the stairs (i think it was 4 stories?).

I saw it. It was boring. It was impressive from a film point of view, one continued shot, but Jaa did the same knees over and over again. I am yet to see ONE move from Jaa that is as impressive as that 4 strike kick.

Muscle and size doesn't mean anything in a fight, Crocop vs Sapp proved that. Michael Jai White probably isn't that great of a fighter either, but we don't know since we've never seen him fight. Bruce Lee never fought anyone on camera or in front of a crowd, but have you seen his sparring video? The dude is lightning fast
I will take Jai Whites's seven black belts and 26 titles as proof that he can fight.

Size does matter. If both fighters are equally skilled then the bigger one will win, its simple logic. Smaller fighters only win if they are more skilled and even then the size has to be somewhat comparable.

Have you seen Hero with Jet Li? You know when he fights that big ass dude in the ring? Even Li himself said that in a real world situation he would have had his ass handed to him because that guy is a fucking tower.

Im pretty confident that I am stronger than Jaa, and my reach is longer. So if it came down to it, my elbow to his head will impact with a greater force than his would. He doesnt have enough skills to win a real fight based on that alone in my opinion. Wow, he would do a flip. Woopy.

For the record, Ive studied Muay Thai for a number of years and now train Krav Maga and BJJ.

I know plenty of Muay Thai fighters that would absolutely murder Tony Jaa. Other than his stunts, he doesnt impress me at all.

Where as Michael Jai White, I wouldnt want to fight him, he has some amazing power while at the same time being so quick and agile. Same with the likes of Scott Adkins who is just a freak too.

And masta, no offence, but I dont believe for a second you can do that kick I suggest you watch it again because it is obviously not what you think it is.

The guy is kicking 4 different people, while in the air, and weighs 240lbs. Ive never seen that move done without wirework before, let alone by somebody that big.

To me the four strike kick isn't that impressive.
is physically more impressive to me.

But those titles aren't from fighting, they're titles from "Hey, he can do a routine incorporating martial arts quite well!" If that was the case than some 8 year old who won a local martial arts event would be able to kick most of our asses.

Size does matter. If both fighters are equally skilled then the bigger one will win, its simple logic. Smaller fighters only win if they are more skilled and even then the size has to be somewhat comparable.
Sean Sherk is 5'6, Matt Serra is 5'6. They've defeated people much bigger than them. Don't forget about Royce Gracie in the first few UFC events.

It could be the truth or it could be modesty. We won't know. Bruce Lee said that Mohammed Ali would kick his ass but I wish that fight would have happened to see if he was right or not.

Well we can set up any scenario we wanted to win a fight, but what would happen in the real world? I mean I could set up 3 people in front of my so I could triple kick them in the face, doesn't mean I could kick their asses.

I know plenty of Muay Thai fighters that would absolutely murder Tony Jaa. Other than his stunts, he doesnt impress me at all.
That's why he's in the movie industry. It's easier to make money pretending to fight than to fight for real, just like why Michael Jai White is making movies. I bet Fedor Emelianko would be able to anyone and everyones ass though.

I always thought talking about how you would kick someones ass in a fight is one of the lamest things you can do. Either you actually prove if by doing it or, if you cant to do it for whatever reason, just shut up.

Sebastian, Im not talking about oh Id kick his ass fuck him! Im saying it in regards to a discussion, I think that a decently skilled bigger guy could win a fight against Tony Jaa. Whether me or the next guy it doesnt matter, Im using myself as an example of size against someone like Jaa who is neither big nor that impressive of a fighter outside of his stunt work.

Fine to appease you I will take myself out of the equation and state that I believe a 6 foot 4 100kg moderately skilled fighter could beat the 5 foot 6 60kg Tony Jaa.

It's impossible to compare nice martial arts tricks to real fight because as I said in real fight people usually use basic techniques. Any jumping and such = ownage.
It's good for movies but real fight is sort of oposite to what you see in those movies.

Size does matter if both people are technically similarly skilled and their speed, health, overall shape etc. are similar.
It's not that for example someone with weight of 70kg (like me fe.) couldn't win with a 100-110kg dude but it would be harder than kicking smaller dude's arse.
Even if you fight on the ground it's harder to get rid of a big dude from you and it's harder to get in a right position to joint-lock him. It's not a determining factor and is not as important as skills but it does also count.
There were times when I lost to a bit less skilled but heavier dudes because they simply had the punch and I failed to avoid them or were too big to push around and I got cornered.
If a skilled dude has a bad luck and gets a punch from someone weighting 100kg for example it may result in a K.O.
Also the taller you are the bigger reach you usually have which is important for punching.

@Rukas: I'm not sure if I could do THAT kick but when I trained Taekwondo and had my kyu exams I could kick 4 targets in one spinning kick in just one jump (I had to kick 4 bricks in a 540 kick fe.).
My weight is significantly lower than this dude's so definately it's much easier for me to do kicks like that but imo they're not as impressive because it's neither useful nor looks that cool.

Also, leg reach is so important. I recently spared with a Wing Chun instructor and just kept keeping him at a distance with a standing front kick. He ended up running towards me and trying to jump but I just caught him in the mid section with the same kick and he flew across the mat. Sparring session over.

Is he more technically skilled than me? Sure. Could he hit me? No. Could he match my power? Nope.

Skills and acrobatics are not everything. And in my opinion all Tony Jaa has is acrobatics.

Also Wing Chun is useless in longer distance and actually it proves not too useful on MMA/K1 rules.
Someone training Muay thai/Karate/tkd could take advantage of that.

I agree about that acrobatics part. They are actors not fighters. They're supposed to look well, not fight good.
Also somebody can have a blackbelt in few martial arts and still be wack at fighting. They can know all those acrobatics, katas and techniques just for show.

Even if I think that you are right on most parts Rukas, I believe firmly that Jaa would still whoop your ass...

Bigger fighters are slower and smaller fighters are usualy quick. If they can block or escape your blows, when they catch you, they usualy do a few quick blows (kind of like combos) and hurt you badly... Then they wait again.

I personaly hate hughe fighters like Slice or Sapp, they are just annoying Gorillas... no racism here, they DO look like King Kongs.

it's not that bigger is always slower.
If they are not simply fat and they don't work out too much and they do it properly, they are stretched etc. they aren't much slower.
I also don't like watching big fighters but they do have an unfair size advantage - it's a fact.
Let's not overrate it - it's not crucial but if you'll ever be forced to fight with a bigger, skilled dude you will know what I am talking about ;) Sometimes you would wish he was just a few kg lighter.

I ment slower than a small opponent who tends to be fast.

And I know what you mean, I used to train martial arts when I was younger. Their reach is bigger than yours, and at the same time, your reach is smaller than theirs. So they block everything you throw and you can't block anything.

I got thrown down by throwing a side kick, direction ribs, and he pushed my leg aside with his left hand and threw a punch with his right straight in my chest.

I just fell down laughing. (I laugh when hurt for some reason)

LOL!!! The Skull Squadron. I used to have those little electric cars for kids. I had a little jeep and I drew a big Skull on the front. My dad got pissed because the car was worth about 200-300$.
I was so fucking bad ass.

Oh and this will sound super weird, but I had my first erection ever thinking about Claudia Grant, Fokker's black gf.
