We could be here all day talking about songs that have been ripped off from other songs. The ones mentioned in that article aren't even the best examples.

And it happens in ALL genres.

I mean, it's OK if it happens every now and then and it isn't too blatant. Everybody is influenced by something.

But when EVERY song you do is a rip off of someone else's style, then you can fuck yourself. Perfect example - Oasis.

Madonna is also prone to ripping off songs. Here's a good example:

Madonna - Material Girl (1985)

The Jacksons - Can You Feel It (1980)

Me too. One of their all-time classics. The album it's from, 'Triumph' is stellar and, in my opinion, MJ's peak as a vocalist. I even consider it more of an MJ album than his solo debut 'Off The Wall' because he wrote more of the songs on 'Triumph' and had a hand in the production as well.

You leave my Oasis out of this :) (lol wondered how long before someone mentioned them)

Have you ever "borrowed" anything for your own music? We wont tell anyone!

LOL, even Ringo Starr said himself that Oasis would be finished once they ran out of Beatles songs to rip off. They've ripped off loads of people though, mostly the Beatles but also bands like the Rolling Stones, The Doors, T-Rex.

With the band, we've been inspired by certain things sometimes for particular songs but we've never directly taken a riff from anywhere. I sample in my solo work occasionally but I always credit it. It sucks to be ripped off. the Chemical Brothers ripped off a song that I wrote with the band and had a #1 with it. We took them to court over it. Fuckers.
