Surgery Today

I am on call to have reconstructive surgery on my right AC joint today.

Acromioclavicuar Joint Separation. AC & secondary ligaments are completely torn & the collarbone is no longer tethered to the shoulder blade, resulting in visible deformity. Grade 3 injury, which is the worst. 6-12 weeks healing time.
They pretty much put a plate and a screw or two in the top of my shoulder. I got injured playing footy a couple of weeks ago.

It was pretty lucky that I am able to get this surgery, I went to see the specialist yesterday and he pretty much said you have two options. Have the surgery and have 8 weeks off work or don't have the surgery, go back to work Monday and have trouble with it later in 2, 5, 10, whatever years down the track with arthritis, not having full strength back and looking deformed lol.
I worked out it was going to cost just under 5 grand to have done after I pay the Surgeon, Hospital, Anesthetist fees etc.. after I get reimbursed from insurance and centerlink I would only be out of pocket about $800, but I had to front the 5gs first which wasn't an option.
I explained to the specialist my situation and left the doctors with the intention of going back to work on Monday. I would of had the 5 grand but I just payed off my trip to Fiji and I leave in 2 weeks.. so yeah bad timing.

Anyways the doctor called me back about an hour later, told me that he spoke to his mate in a public hospital and he has squeezed me in to have surgery with him tomorrow, cost free. :)
I was shocked that he had done this for me, if I went through the public system from the start I would have been put on a waiting list and could of been waiting for a year or two. Which is pointless because after a few weeks the injury has already healed.
I guess he must of felt sorry for me or something I dunno, I felt like giving him a kiss lol.

I wasn't aloud to eat or drink anything from 6 o clock this morning. The last thing I ate was Mcdonalds at about 11 last night, I'm starving.
All this has screwed my trip in Fiji as I won't be able to do a lot of the activities like snorkeling, wind surfing, fishing and whatever other rad shit they have over their at the resort.. but I'm sure I will make do with drinking all day by the pool with my own personal slave :D
It was a once off small window off opportunity so I had to take it.

Hope you all are doing well I'm off to hospital for a couple of days, doing nothing besides watching free to air T.V next to some old duck and pressing a button that releases morphine :cheesy:

It's "would HAVE" and "could HAVE". It's also "allowed" and not "aloud". Are you dyslexic (not being an asshole, just wondering)

But good luck on the surgery though. I hate going under the knife.

I am not dyslexic, I am aware of proper grammar but seeing how this is a blog and not an essay to prove an argument, I choose to write it as I would be talking to you in person.

Thanks to all of you who wished me luck, I never ended up having the surgery. They eventually called after starving myself all day and told me that they had a couple of emergency's come in and because mine was not essential, I had fallen to the bottom of this list and that they would re evaluate my x-rays on Monday and give me a call.

They called me again today after fasting myself yet again and explained that I won't be having the surgery for the fact that the risk of infection is higher than the risk of just letting it heal the way it is. I flipped my shit and went off at him, telling him that if he had a fucking bone sticking out of his shoulder he would take the risk in order not to have this deformity. It got me no where. I personally think the whole infection thing is a load of shit, I'm sure their would be a slight chance of this happening but I reckon they just don't want to waste a few thousand dollars and give up a bed for a couple of days for an operation that is not necessary.

I feel like a tool I have told friends and family that I am having this done and they all wish me luck as all of you have, and now I'm not having it done. I even told work that I need 8 weeks off.

The only chance of me having this done is if I call the private hospital again and see if they will operate if I can come up with the money. It has to be done within a certain time frame of when the injury occurred so they could just bluntly say no.

If they do say yes, come in I would have to ask my old man for the money, which I'm sure he will lend to me if he has it, but I am way to stubborn to ask. I hate the feeling of owing people money, especially family.

^Best just ask Pop for the money. It's your health...it's not like you're asking for money to spend on hookers and blow. Is it painful?

ask him for the cash and then just repay him man, there is no shame in doing that. you're not blowing this money on alcohol, it's for your health, so he will help you out.

also buy health insurance in future

.
You actually save an extra typing stroke by writing wouldve instead of would of, so...theres no phonetical difference, so why write it incorrectly?

And yeah get the money from your dad, man. You don't wanna be stuck with chronic back pain in 10 years because you were stubborn back then.
