really though, i buy a 2 litre bottle of soda nearly everyday, usually Lilt or Orangina, or if i'm on the go i buy the small bottles of Sprite, and if im going to work i buy 2 bottles of Sprite to take with me to work.

i tried buying Diet soda drinks when i had a bad tooth and had dental appointments recently, but the drawback was that i wasnt getting the sugar in my diet that i was before, so i had much less energy when drinking diet soda drinks. so now i continue as normal and buy regular soda drinks, one for the sugar and energy they provide, and two for the hydration.

i always try to buy soda drinks that contain fruit juice, so i know its not just soda water and flavourings that i'm drinking. Orangina for example contains orange juice and real orange pieces, and vitamins and minerals too.

i drink at least 1 litre of soda per day, i know they have other additives in them such as flavourings and preservatives in them, but the way i look at it is that if my body is kept hydrated it shouldn't have any problems filtering out minor toxins, if 'minor toxins' be what you would refer to why soda drinks are 'bad' per say.

Good post and I agree we need to be well hydrated to help with the toxins being eliminated, I suppose soda would be mostly ok as long as you do flush your body out regularly with water, but for those poor suckers that drink ONLY diet soda, hmm bad news for them. Same prolly goes for normal soda drinkers as well, if thats all you drink, it wouldn't be good for you.

So I'm a huge fan of Coca-cola, love the drink and the only time I drink a different soda is when Coke isn't available. Yeah, some would say I'm hooked but, to me I just enjoy the taste of a cold Coke. The only competitor Coke has for me is water. I'll pick water over a Coke as long as the option is there. No over-weight issues going on with me and, I won't be having any in future. I mean, this is Africa (XD...inside joke).

I've never been down for that diet stuff, tried it once and I hated it coz it gave me a 'filled up' feeling. HATED IT!! I guess it'll be a while before I give up on Coca-cola. One guy once went on and on about how bad it is for my body. Hell, as far as I know, a lot of things that taste good are deemed bad for you one way or the other. If Coke is bad for you and you're overweight, stop drinking the stuff.

I have a friend and his Mrs (about 25) only used to drink Pepsi Max, like that's alllllll she drank, ever for years I think. Anyway she ended up in hospital with a hole in her stomach or intestines or similar and basically leaking internally. Apparently she had thick gooey sludge all up in it, and the surgeon knew of it previously and said to cut out anything "diet" otherwise she would be back in the operating theatre. Apparaently our bodies can handle the sugar in normal drinks, but not the stuff in diet drinks.

People just don't realise or question simple things like that sometimes, and look what happens, and that just with a dodgy softdrink.

Think about all the other shit out there in the world, we don't know about widespread......hmmmm

clueless about nutrition - i.e. what are diet soft drinks going to do after the 1000s of calories consumed in one meal? eating huge meal all at once? (bad).

a lack of knowledge and interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle for themselves therefore leading to the state that they are in. of course, it is down to their metabolism but thats only to an extent. they should know their bodies and be able to work around what they can do. keep a diary or something.
