It's hard to find words to try to make someone feel better about this. I just listen. I suck at those situations. I figure people who lose someone need someone to listen to them. I let it to other people to make them laugh and whatnot.
Yeah same here, I suck at consoling people. But it's because I as a person don't like to be consoled. Just let me be and I"ll be alright.

I think it'd be harder being a colleague since ( I don't know ) the relationship is different. I'd say just be yourself and do whatever you feel the moment calls for.

Same here. I hate crying, and hate even more crying in public. Hate being consoled as well.

Well she is my colleague and my friend. I found friend's friend confusing so I figured it'd make it easier to understand but then you guys thought it was my colleague who died. lol

Sorry to hear that, a friend of mine, well more like an acquaintance passed away in his sleep a few years back. Dude was 21 at the time, healthy, didnt smoke or nothing. The news was shocking, its tough being at those funerals, and seeing close fam and friends losing someone so young. The only thing worst was being at a funeral of a murder victim. I can still hear that mother's cries when I think back. I still remember her screaming "where you taking my son? leave him alone, let him sleep, dont take him away, he's just sleeping, why are you taking him away?"

... and to top it all off one of closest friends dad just passed away, got a funeral to attend in the morning.

But the way I look at it is death is inevitable, its the only thing guaranteed in life. And its proven time and time again that it comes to all rich or poor, young or old. But for some fucked up reason we all think that it wont hit close to home till it does.

We as human beings need to look at every day as our last, and not just enjoy shit to the fullest, but also let go of all the petty grudges we hold against others especially our families. Fuck it, who knows who's going to be around tomorrow, and if you'll ever have a chance to apologize or forgive. Take every death as a lesson and learn. We're all mortal, and we all have a time when we leave this earth, and we take none of this materialistic bullshit with us.

Each one Teach one, remember death is just around the corner at all times, and show and prove there's a better way and watch humanity grow.

Peace

it is sad. i had a friend in college last year who's friend died in her sleep. i think she was only 16.

things happen for a reason although it may not make sense but we have to accept it eventually.

I didn't really know him. My brother did somehow... We just knew a lot of radio heads that's all.

wow, at all of you having some sort of experience with someone dying at a young age in their sleep. I never heard of this till carmi said so.

We do all expect to die at some point it's just we don't expect it so young you know. Especially with no apparent reason. If it was a car accident you can blame it on the driver or something, but if a young person dies in their sleep.. Who do you blame?

Maybe its better we dont have anyone to blame.

And maybe expecting to die at some point is not enough. Maybe being prepared for it would be a better strategy?

^But you don't wanna prepare for a young person's death. If you tell me you are prepared for any of your friends' death, I will not believe you.

I meant each person should be prepared for their own. I'm not saying its easy to be prepared for your own either. I'm just saying we'd all be a lot better and realer people if we were prepared for our own death to come anytime.
