so I heard "International" - the mix with Zola on it today.

Today, I heard the version of International that has Zola on it. I've been in France this weekend doing a gig, and on the Eurostar train back to London today, our manager (he also manages Zola, as well as Pras and a number of other artists), played it to me.

The beat and hook were the same, so it's not like it was a completely different version of the track. Interestingly, the hook wasn't over-autotuned to shit like it is on the album version and sounded much better.

Zola had an intro on the track where he said something to the effect of "Zola up on this, with my brothers Snoop Dogg and Tupac, this is the repatriation right here" - my manager confirmed to me that Snoop was originally going to be on the track, hence the shoutout by Zola.

Where the 'Pac verse is, was instrumental on this version - this is obviously because Amaru didn't want anything getting leaked when they were sending tracks out for the guest appearances. Then Zola did the second verse, and ripped it, in a mix of English and his native language (Swahili?) - i remember a good lyric that went something like "i'm the guy your ma warned you about, tall black and dreadlocked...." i forget what the end of that line was.

Then the third verse was blank, for where Snoop was originally supposed to be. It was cool to listen to the raw instrumental for the verses - I also heard a high pitched synthy-whistly sorta sound at various points that isnt on the released version - although it possibly might have been Zola doing some weird African adlib, lol.

Anyway, the point is - Zola ripped it, and that's the truth. The guy has skills. I'd much rather be listening to this version than Nipsey Hussle and Young Dre, who both sounded generic to me, and I forward the track after 'Pacs verse and the hook on the album version.

Just like the un-used Johnny J mixes I heard (Play Ya Cardz Right particularly) , Amaru really dropped the ball by not using this version of International.

Any questions?

Hymnz - Didn't wanna push my luck, I was happy to have heard it, but I will ask, he's gone to NYC for a week so I'll speak to him when he gets back.

i'm glad this zola version hit the trash can. who wants to hear some random asshat speaking in a language that i can't even understand? ...especially over that wack assed beat. to boot, i'm sure he wasn't talking about the same shit as pac was so it would have been pointless anyway. your manager can keep this rubbish.

you're right- he might not have been speaking about the same stuff or in the same language, Dante.
but the track is called 'international'.

I love it how when someone else gets an exclusive before you do (or whatever u may call it) - u get threatened and feel like playa's is gonna rip your spot. At least make it look more slick instead of looking like a baby who is crying cuz they not getting the attention. You should encourage exclusive news like this, its what makes the site better. We got a board member who has information we all want to hear, so dont piss on it!

On a positive note, its gonna be good to see 'Pac fuse with an artist like Zola - Regardless of the pathetically hilarious comments made above by a couple of bitches

I havent posted here in a while, because the album released under the name 2pac Pac's Life extinguished my flame of hope for more decent 2pac material to come to light. Our only hope is bastards like Dante et al who have bought Pac shit with their own money. Were fucked then aye.

there's no guarantee we will ever hear it. :(
Let's hope Mili gets his hands on the track and shares it...

i guess you may have a point, but since you probably haven't heard the zola track you shouldn't label it 'rubbish'. also, how bad could it be compared to the released version? most people skip the song after pac is done.
it sounds like there are a few slight changes in the instrumental and chorus, which is probably not a bad thing. Amaru might not have found this version tasteful, but in that department Amaru and the 'real' fans have differing opinions .
i would like to hear the song.

i think dante's outburst is an expression of the typical american intolerance of foreign culture. :p
he will always be the guy with the rarest shit, so there is no worry for him there and he knows it.

Actually, it's mostly English with the odd African word here and there, it's a perfectly understandable verse and it SHITS all over Nipsey and Young Dre. And his verse was very much on topic lyrically, way more so than Nipsey and Y.D.

Don't be mad cos you only get to hear two generic boring west coast rappers, just like everyone else.

I promise I will try to get the track.

Alright, there's no point in people dissing each other over this news.

Buyaka - Dante wasn't posting out of jealousy, because I was about to post very similar thoughts when I first read this thread. While it's true that Militant has heard an alternate version of a retail song that Dante hasn't heard, it's a version that in all honesty a lot of people probably wouldn't care to hear, which is why Dante leaked out some alternate versions of LTTG songs, like DJ Quik's versions of Don't You Trust Me and Thug 4 Life, both of which were crappy album scraps anyway. People downloaded them, said thanks, never listened to them again after a couple days, then moved on. It's not like Militant was dropping news on a completely unheard, unleaked track.

Hymnz - Dante's point was that regardless of whether or not the version Militant heard was better or not than the retail version, it probably still sucked, mostly due to the wannabe crunk beat.

Militant - I think it's cool that you've been granted access to this track and a couple others that you heard when you came here to Southern California, but there's no point in throwing out disses like what you said. While it's true that "everyone else" only gets to hear "two generic boring west coast rappers," believe me when I say that no one is seriously jealous because we don't have the alternate version with Zola where he supposedly rips it. Would we like to hear this version? Sure, why not. Would we lose any sleep waiting for it to drop? Nope.

But if this mix got dumped from the album why would the dude not just post the track on the net? or let you do it?

Like someone said the beat is wack regardless.

No offense, but I probably wouldn't even bother with the click of a mouse to download this... if it's remotely close to the retail version, it's still gonna be shit... this beat is so fuckin' horrible, took a 'Pac verse I love and made it into poopoo. I don't think Crooked I and Tech N9ne (my favorite rappers) could make this track any better... the production is just shit.
