Rukas & Blaze - Death Of Tight Jeans feat. Jay-Z

#3
likin' the R & B moniker that stands for rukas and blaze instead of rhythm and blues, clever. and jay z on the sample, i'd go for calling this a well achieved collaboration, good stuff

when is rukas gonna drop an album

Did my last reply get deleted? Geez things don't change on here do they, inflated ego's and all. I even went as far as saying that track was dope, concept was cool.. I just wasn't feeling the American accent. Because after all you're both Australian aren't you? Making an album in Australia for the Australian hip-hop market...

I don't understand the problem, it's not like Dizzee Rascal or Roots Manuva from the UK rap in American... Scribe or Savage from New Zealand rap American... Hilltop Hoods or Bliss-N-Eso rap American. Everyone mentioned just does them and even though alot of homage is paid in their music to the American scene they all happily represent who they are and where they are from. With their own distinctive sound and style.

Love or hate my feedback it's people like me who'll end up buying your shit for now, not people like SiGh or Carmi (no offence). People like me who'll end up going to your shows for now. Maybe you don't pay enough attention to the very scene in which you happen to be in but like I mentioned in my previous deleted post, Aussie hip-hop fan's DO NOT fuck with Aussie rappers who rap in American.

I'm trying to help here, I think you two got something good going on but if you continue to do this imitated style then prepare for backlash across the Australian hip-hop community. My man Jack the Rapper used to be the same, he changed his shit back to the local brand 4 years ago. Now he's one of Brisbane's/QLD's most loved rappers and he is getting a lot of love in other Australian cities.

Keep at it though and take the negative feedback with the good. Cause that's how the real world is. I'll be looking out for your album and if it's jamming, I'll spread the word up here in QLD.

Dude get off your own high horse. A number of peoples posts were lost when I did a backup and reinstall of the database.

Theres a thread about it: http://www.streethop.com/forum/our-block/200850-some-hickups.html

No one is trying to suppress your opinion. You sound like a real dick.

Scribe and Savage dont rap with American accents? Neither do Bliss N Eso? Dude, have you even HEARD their music? They all adopt a universal "musical accent" which happens to be American. So do Australian rock acts like Silverchair and pop singers.

And neither Ruk nor Blaze are "Australian." In fact while Ive known Ruk for several years and lived next to him at one point, I didnt meet Blaze until 2006 which is when he came back to Australia, before going back overseas with Ruk, and then from there they both moved to Melbourne.

But yeah, dude, seriously, no one is trying to supress your opinion on anything and LOL at you thinking they are to the point of such a long fueled reply.

I don't know how it is in Australia but I think that the fact that they sound "American" doesn't change anything. It's all about the style. There's a huge chance that Rukas will be a creator of a new Australian trend in hip-hop because somebody has to do things differently. Why should he sound like other local artists if he feels more like doing what he does right now? Why would it be better if he did what others do and what feels right for some guys? I bet that there are still thousands of people who will like what he does right now. Also come to think of it he doesn't sound that American on all of his tracks - you can hear it mostly on this one.

Thanks for the feedback Syns. Ill make sure to send you a link to the mixtape in the coming weeks before the album, bro.

For the record, I am Polish/American by blood and hold duel citizenship with Australia. My passport game is Jason Bourneish right now. But I have never called myself Australian. Thats not a swipe at locals, but I wasnt born here, wasnt raised in the culture here, and dont identify with cricket, football and meat pies. I never have and never will.

Thats not a knock at the country, it is a great place to live, but even here in Melbourne I dont see any Aussie's anywhere where I am at. I dont feel like I should have to conform to that "Aussie Aussie oi oi" culture, that has NEVER accepted me as one of their own in the first place, in order to make the music I love. I dont live that way, dont feel that way, and dont act that way, doing so in my music, to make "oz hiphop," would be fake to me. And at the end of the day that is all that matters to ME.

If what I do sells it sells, if people go to the shows they go to the shows, if not they dont. But Im not going to change me to appeal to the market "here."

In fact the only Aussie people I know in Melbourne are a bunch of rock punk kids who hustle hard on their tip!

Kevin Rudd didn't even give me a stimulus package!

But like I said, thanks for the constant support and keep tuned.

masta, Im trying to work out a concept to do a song called "Kurwa" and not have it come across corny ;)

I might jack this: hahah

It would probably be really popular here if you recorded a catchy one with a "kurwa" chorus.
I hope that you can still pronounce it with a proper accent ;)

Caesar do you know where Ruk's intended market is?

Rukas, being polish/american by blood, and austrailia based, will he be putting a slavic twist to an american style, aimed to the market of his own roots. is it right also that there is no australian influence to Ruk's art/music

Caesar, why you defending Ruk when I wasn't even hating on the dude? I was just saying that being he is mainly based here in Australia that will be his main market unless he has a world wide distribution deal, which if he has, more power to him and that deserves mad props.

But I know the Australian hip-hop market very well, one of the reasons I been M.I.A. on this board for the last couple years is because of that. Getting out there and dwelling with these oz hip-hop heads and acts, so when I say they really only fuck with local cats with local sounds I mean it. Even Triple J are hesitant to play an Aussie rapper who doesn't sound at least somewhat aussie. That's just fact.

Here is another fact, I been paying attention to Mike's music since 2002 when I joined the board. And I have noticed a change in his accent over the years. Me? Personally? I could care less about an accent.. but I'm here to support the dude with real feedback that'll make him better loved in this game as he progresses much like my mans Jak, Clinic or even Lazy Grey up here in QLD.

As for me thinking my opinions were getting deleted, shit they have in the past before your ass showed up hence why I thought they were again. Here I'll man up and say I jumped the gun.

As for Savage, Scribe's, Bliss N Eso's accents, now either my ears alot more in tune then yours are or it's you who has never heard their music properly minus their radio hits.

I'm not trying to argue with you though, think what you will, like I said I'm only trying to give Ruk a head's up. Which I have been since the days he was MSNing me his demos back in 2002.

As for me sounding like a dick? I'd rather sound like a dick then sound like a pussy. lol j/k.

Ayo Ruk, you better link me your mixtape or i'll come down to Melbourne and steal that shit off you and where the fuck is your man MastaKraft? I really rated him.

Stay cool my man.
