IMO Vol.1 was way better than Vol.2. I don't know why so many people were excited about Vol.2, I'm not feeling it very much. I know there are more 'rap songs' on this one but the essence of 2Pac is missing, and I don't see myself listening to that album anytime in the near future. There are about 3-4 songs, not more, worth the listen, and two of them were modified. The album sounds like it was rushed. Half the album is weak to me, club and r&b songs don't make me feel 2Pac poetry at all.
I just feel more effort put into Vol.1, it's probably the most underrated 2Pac album, even though it's not really 2Pac. It's special to listen and very different, many tracks on this one need to be mentionned, Wake Me When I'm Free, God, If There Be Pain, The Rose That Grew From Concrete, In The Event Of My Demise, Wife 4 Life, Family Tree, and one of the best songs ever, Starry Night, that song alone is worth the whole album. There are a lot of great instrumentals and it's like a trip listening to those tracks, you definitely feel 2Pac's poetry. Plus Vol.1 is longer and more complete.
They should have kept the same formula on Vol.2 and add more of his poems that weren't interpreted yet.
