Are the biggest headaches known to mankind.

If it's not money involvement (usually is) it's something else that makes you and or other roommates pissed off.

Anyone got any horror roommate stories?

Here's mine:

I lived with 3 others, and long story short, we all parted ways (not all at the same time) and i stayed there, with the newer ones. The head of house hold left me in charge, and also left the washer, drier and fridge. Once i had problems with the other tenants and i kicked them out for not paying, they took those items and the previous head of house hold didn't care and said oh well, your loss.

I had nothing in writing that they belonged to me, and since they were family, i felt they took advantage. They left my food out while i was at work to rot, and i had to spend my whole pay check and savings to get a fridge and all that other stuff.

Anyway, my next roommates, come in. We are all related and they said that was fucked up.

Not even 2 months later and my brother is trying to take me to court for bullshit i didn't do...meanwhile he's accusing me of taking things that belonged to him, that i didn't take. He also isn't paying this last rent that is on contract and is giving me the fuckin run around and harassing me through email and such. I tried to report it and they said since it's not on text that he threatened me or anything, i can't report anything, especially since i provided him with that email.

He's trying to get me to do a mistake, or something and act out in aggression,so he has something on me. Everyday, it's something new.

My older brother is around 8 years older. (i'm 24)

In the past, i and (my girl that used to post here) provided him with free living for about a month. This dude shows no gratitude and thinks he's the best. I unfortunately, trusted him because we looked down on my other brother that stole from us because of his drug addiction. I just feel completely back stabbed, and i'm losing sleep over it...even though i try to not let it bug me.

I guess i just need to read some roommate horror stories to make me feel better. lol

Also, shout out to SiGh for giving his personal time to listen to a friend in need.

Yeah, I have tons of horror stories but I'll just give you the same advice I think I gave you a long time ago. Don't help people. Especially when you're not really in the position to. I know you're nice and you want to help your family but the relationships will be better off if you don't live together. (Or borrow/lend money but that's another topic) find something that you can afford alone, even if you have to live in a 200sqft studio, it will be worth it. Have you lived alone yet?

When you *need* people (to split bills/share expenses) you get put in really shitty situations. Your family are losers okay? It's okay, my family has losers too. If you're trying to move forward, you can't carry other people with you.

You can pm me anytime....I'll listen. I haven't talked to my Aunt in over 5 years because of money issues. Not because I want her to pay me back, but because she lied about it to make me look like the bad guy. If she wasn't such a miserable cunt I would go hug her bc she forced me to find a better job so I could pay all the bills she left me with. Now I make double and she's almost 40 living at home with my grandma. Funny how things work out.

I would never live with anyone I wasn't in a relationship with, or who aren't my Mum & Dad. But....

You need to have a contract with these people. And if you are responsible for the Tenancy alone (I don't see how that's legal) then you need to take a safety deposit and a couple of months rent up front...!

My first college roommate was this really bratty gay guy who constantly played Madonna and Janet Jackson and Prince. Just those three, at high volume, all the time. I don't think he owned headphones.

edit: he also played this one techno song where someone keeps repeating, I WANNA HAVE SEX TONIGHT. He played that one a lot.

Exactly. It's interesting what we can accomplish when we feel it's necessary.

I thought this was going to be a thread with funny roommate "horror" stories and I immediately started thinking up of my freshman year of college and my roommate Sam. How I pissed in his shampoo bottle, put my pubes on this bar of soap, threw chicken wing bones in his closet for months at a time.... But then I realized this thread was more for Sam than it was for me. So....

so far, so good. i never had to live with people I don't know except freshmen year of college. I'm roommates now with my freshmen year dorm roommate.

one of my friends lives with one of her really good friends and they're both moving out and getting their own place to essentially salvage their friendship because they just can't live together.
