Question regarding "Runnin'" OG

This is from before the board crash. Could well be Dante's info.

Some Other Guy said:
runnin was originally recorded for thug life's album. this version has a unique male reggae hook and slight lyric differences. most remarkably it features the resurrection verse. police references are uncensored.

runnin was later re-recorded by everyone but biggie for a matw release. this features a female reggae hook. police references are uncensored.

the track was finally released on promo cd and on one million strong in 1995 with a third version of the hooks, performed by a male reggae artist. police references are censored in all single and album versions.

in 1998 stonebridge remixed runnin, adding female singing hooks. police references are uncensored and censored on different mixes.

also in 1998, booty records released singles for runnin, making a shorter version of the track as stonebridge did. this track has the same male hooks as one nation. police references are uncensored.

trapp remixed it (very slightly) and also created an r& b version. in 1998 stonebridge remixed runnin, adding female singing hooks. police references are uncensored and censored on different mixes.

we all clear? i have all of these items so i can tell you definitively because i looked at the cd's and listened to them just now to be 100%.

runnin' mystery put to bed.

Well if this is true then can someone explain why my version of one million strong has the police references UNcensored?

depends where and when you got it. some releases of the compilation used a stonebridge remix. the american release predated the rest by several months, and was never released uncensored.

well i've heard the stonebridge remix and its definitely not that, it sounds exactly like the regular version on OMS, except without the police censors. I got it in 97, but i bought it from a friend who said he got it not long after it came out. Until i came here, i didn't even know there was an edited version on the album lol. Could it maybe be an import from another country? All i know is its not one of those other remixes, it sounds exactly like the version with the edits, only without them. My buddy lost the case before he sold it to me so i can't check out the booklet to find out where it was printed

When you said that it features the resurrection (dyin to live) verse, did you mean that it features that verse ON TOP of the other runnin verse which starts with "They got me runnin from the 5-0?" Or do you mean that the version quoted above only has Pac's lyrics from em's version?

I'm not really wondering about different versions but all the mp3's I have for the second version have part of Biggie's verse missing, sounds like a skip to me. I'm just wondering if thats the only way that mp3/track has been available or if I just have a crappy and/or messed up mp3?

The first version I have is from the original retail release of "One Million Strong". This has (if not Buju) some ragga guy singing and is explicit except for the police edits.

The second version is the same but is fully uncensored without police edits and shorter outro. This has part of Biggie's second verse missing which I believe is a skip/error on the mp3/track, not an edit.

The third version is also fully uncensored without police edits but has a female ragga singer or a high pitched male ragga singer.

the skip version is just that. the other versions are explained in this thread.

So from what I've gathered this version...

Some Guy said:
Runnin’ (MATW Original 2) feat. Thoro Headz, Stretch , The Notorious B.I.G. & Buju Banton
significance of the song:
- the words ‘police’ and ‘5.0’ and all other curse words are unedited
- pac’s well known verse (pac’s verse startin’ with ‘they got me runnin’..)
...is not available without the skip in Biggie's second verse. I'm curious to get my hands on some of those later remixes that are supposed to be fully uncensored. Good lookin on the info, thanks!
