Question about How do you want it OG

#6
i dont think this was the OG, but more of a test version. the hook sounds incomplete anyway as if pac was to be replaced anyway. it sounds like pac was just tryin to show how the chorus would be

yeah as Pac fan's we need to start a whole new Classifacation for tracks now. "DEMO Version"

We now have
"How Do U Want it" Demo
"Unconditional Love" Demo
"Let's Fight"("Jaws Tight") Demo
"U Can Be Touched" Demo (Pac doing vocals)[I am still not sure he was not ment to rap the verse himself, the Extra Kadafi Verse and production Change on the other "OG" We have makes me think Napo just decied after Pac died to Rap that verse]
ETC....

i'd argue that unconditional love was a fully finished track, that was covered by hammer, as opposed to ghost written by pac. i agree with you on u can be touched - i think that napo wanted to use pac's verse and the song was structured a little differently because of that. what do you mean about let's fight/jawz tight being a demo though?

Well you and others might have proper knowledge on "Unconditional Love", I thought the story was that he Wrote it for Hammer and the Take we have was just 2pac showing Hammer how to spit the rhyme, and that was why the Quality was not as high as it should be. so I was just speaking on what I thought was the Common Belief.

As For "Let's fight", Isn't there a Freestyle Cypher over the "Let's fight" Beat that also has some shared lyrics with the "Released" Version, that is on the Son Rize Vol.1 Mix Tape called "Jaw's Tight"
**Edit** I have not bumped Son Rise Vol.1 in some time. SO I may be wrong?

maybe you can help me work out some others in my mind also, I mean it is gonna be hard to Draw the line between "OG","Alt," and "Demo" but I am sure we have others that are Demo's as well.

Thanks for this peacefull exchange Dante.

the quality of unconditional love (and the ultimate line switch) was the result of a missing master. theo (from the all about u video, and l.a. radio personality) was given the song to play on the radio and where the master ended up from there is a mystery. the "she still loves me" line was tagged over by the station, and that's why the line was removed for retail release. i suspect that amaru was able to obtain an in-house archival recording of the airing by the station and layered some instrumentation onto it, thus the quality is superior to radio but far from cdq.

i'd argue that unconditional love was not an example for hammer to use since it's very much a finished track. hammer's version doesn't use the same singers, and moreover the lyrics reflect pac's life much moreso than hammer's (despite his occasional word changes).

as for let's fight, the yaki mixtape version is the audio from a recording booth camera (the footage snippet was originally leaked for hitemup vip members), and while it may be a little different sounding, it could be the dynamics of the sound (a nickel sized camera mic and lots of in-booth chatter) or a different take. the acapella has a whole mess of talking in the background, so i wouldn't be surprised if the yaki version and the recently publicly leaked lp version are the same take, but captured by very differing mic's.

I think I read somewhere (maybe XXL??) that 2Pac originally wanted it like that, but Suge wanted K-Ci & Jo-Jo do the hook. Not positive though.

Good shit! never even heard that story about "Unconditional Love",
when I listen to that song I was always like "Why would he give this song to Hammer? it is such a Personal Song".

Is that or was that common to give Radio Stations the Master? I can't believe they would give a Radio station a Master of a Tupac song!(not saying you are lying just don't make sense to me) why not just a DAT or CD? I assume this took place After Pac "Left us"? lol

Rings a bell to me also, or maybe that was "Toss it up"?
i dont know if they were going to leave it like that. Suge called up
K-Ci and Jo-Jo and asked if they wanted to do the track (how do you want it). Then 2pac sang it for them to tell them how it was gonna sound. Maybe he played his version for them.

this is starteing to sound like one of Suges "I saved Tupac's life" storys! lol

But for real! I think we all by now should be aware of how involved in every aspect of his Music Tupac was. We should also recognize his amazing artistic Decisions, I would think Tupac planed to have someone do the hook the whole time, but just layed it down so they would have something to go by as you said.

I love Tupac doing his own Hooks specialy the Sing Song one's like "Fame" but I think "How Do U Want it" really needed K-Ci and Jo-Jo.

:thumb: you're right.2pac wasn't a good singer :p

Concerning the stories about the demos not being OGs,I don't think 2pac would have recorded the full songs if it wasn't really meant for himself...You can show someone how he is supposed to do the song without having to record the full song...

True, that is a Good point. Yet maybe it was easyer that way? that way they could just play Pac's Take through the Headphones.

But you are probably correct
