he's talking about modern Chinese pollution.

Actually China barely has any nature.
That's because their environment is so toxic.
They dump poisons (literally) into rivers and forests so you won't see fishes or any living animals there.

They have a few big parks (forests) tho with animals and shit (not literally) and that's probably what you're looking for.
